    Hi,

I am looking at buying a 1 series and would like to know more about the car as I am not very good with them and not have a very trustworthy mechanic I can ask.
Any general info is good: how is the car in general, is the motor good? overall if it's worth buying.

Some info on what I am looking is:
    From 2005
    Around 80k miles
    1.6l
    Something up to 4k max

    Thanks!

Timing chains can stretch on the petrol engines, ABS/DTC module can fail on them. Make sure to take it for a good long test drive and no warnings appear on the dash. They are quite small on the inside and most are very poorly specced here. A 118i would have a bit more spirit than the 116i too.
