Gospel/African song

Hi, I heard a busker on Drury St today singing what sounded like a gospel/soul song, something like 'Come home John' or 'take the train home John'. I meant to stop and ask him but I was in a hurry, can anybody point me in the right direction, it sounded like it might be a standard for that genre.
