Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've just got a new Toyota Yaris 2006 model - I'd like to add a handsfree / bluetooth. Can I just buy a Parrot type kit or is it more complicated?

Any recommendations on what to buy and could I install it myself?

Anything else I should get? Like a car cradle for a OnePlus phone?

Do you want music streaming too?

Ideally yes, but I can survive with phone calls and using the radio if that is going to be much easier or cheaper

Well it will be cheaper to not have music, but at the same time, now is the time to do it if you want it!

Bluetooth only phone kit is a piece of cake to install, only 3 or 4 wires.

The likes of a parrot kit that does music is easy too, possibly easier as its plug and play once you buy the adaptor.

OK thanks, is it just a case of buying any Parrot and the relevant cable for the Yaris? (i've never done this before, had bluetooth in my last car)

    Yes, that's it.

If not going down the music route, there are other brands to look at other than parrot.

If you're feeling lazy, halfords install parrot mk9200s. They charge enough though.

I'm going to go for phone only - what would people recommend in easy to install?

I reckon easiest to install would be a parrot kit. Get the adaptor loom SOT-062 which makes it plug-and-play, no cutting wires.
You will have to remove the stereo of course, but that's quite easy on a Yaris.
The parrot ck3000 evolution car kit is cheap enough, relatively speaking.

I got this for my Daughter 2005 VW and she very happy with it. Attaches to Sun Visor and can be paired to 2 x Phones in the Car.

I see some-one else posted this fore additional 10%

Those sun visor ones are decent, the mother has a Sony Ericsson one and the battery lasts ages between charges.
Not as good as a fitted kit but not bad either.

Thanks for all suggestions, I'll go for a Parrot CK3100 in the end most likely

I have a ck3100 in mine and it's grand, they're a bit dated at this stage, but they have the screen that the ck3000 doesn't have, mine is going a bit crazy sometimes where it freezes, but it is 7 years old to be fair.

Anything more up to date in the same price range?

Do you want something with an lcd display on it?

Not absolutely necessary as my phone will be on a cradle beside it.

Thanks for your responses so far BTW, very helpful

I have a CK3100 and its over ten years old. Upgrade the firmware and it should be grand. The sound quality on it is still far superior to most handsfree kits on the market.

The good thing about having the display on the parrot is you can dial a number or go through your phonebook or see who's ringing you without looking at or touching the phone.
For a parrot without display the ck3000 would be the one, it's cheaper and looks a bit more modern. There's a good mounting spot for the keypad to the right of the steering wheel.

OK - thanks - so with screen and phone calls only, CK3100 is the one to go for? Or is there a newer phone only model in the same price bracket?

Do you know what, the 3100 isn't that bad in that you'd be able to install it yourself and it's compatible with a lot of phones. Firmware is upgradable too.
Car is 10 years old so it won't look too out of place :) the newer ones are black and look a bit better than the old ones.
