Lexus CT200h - Joystick question

Hi all, hoping someone can help here...

I'm looking at the above cars and have viewed a few at this stage.. just have a question on the navigation panel..

Some models have a touch pad for moving around the entertainment system etc..and others have a joystick. On the joystick, should that remain centred at all times? Ie: should it centre itself if I flick it to the right left..

I viewed one car and the jostyick just falls in whatever direction I moved it and remained there until I moved it either back to the centre or it fell to the opposite side..

Maybe that's the way they are, but it just seemed a little odd to me as I expected the joystick to be almost spring like and centre itself/ Have a little resistance to return to its original position..

    Any help appreciated, thanks

Looks to me in this video that it does not self centre, but hard to say for sure.

Heres a clearer one. It does not self centre.

Best thing to do is drive another similar one for comparison.

Thanks all.. are there any CT drivers on here? Just wondering if there is anything specifically I should be looking out for with the Ct200 or Hybrids in general..

Prius/Auris/CT200h all use the well proven 1.8 HSD. Nothing really to worry about with them, as long as it has been serviced.

Not really much to do anyway - oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter. Chain driven - so no timing belt worries.

Purists will change the gearbox oil every 80kkm or so (only the Toyota ATF-WS, I would not risk using anything else). Breaks are not used heavily on the hybrids - so neither disks nor pads need frequent servicing (I still had factory pads after 120kkm).

Just make sure it hasn't been crashed - that's all.

Good mechanic will be very helpful...

But there are a few things you can do yourself. For instance http://www.samarins.com/check/bodycond.html

Or get something like that: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Prodig-Tech-Car-Paint-Layer-Thickness-Gauge-Meter-Tester-w-Learn-Wired-Probe-/121560956383?hash=item1c4d98fddf:g:Js4AAOSw8d9U0MlZ

They are very reasonably priced used in the uk. Even before all the drama last week.

They're all well specced, but once you see the higher specs, you'll want them, I like the f sport kit on them too.
