Crikey, not half bad for a small minded team.

Prediction: Iceland Supermarket chain will see a massive drop off in business over the next week or so.

A bit like the way the Irish media blabber on about the rugby team and to a lesser extent our soccer team?

    From earlier:

They sure have, I just find the narrative around English teams/athletes a bit more grating.

Fair enough that they big them up a bit, but when average performers get presented as being actual contenders it's just insulting to the other teams.
also I don't think Irish media talking about Irish rugby or football is really blabbering because the talk stays fairly realistic (or at least in the same ball-park).

Similarly I don't mind English media going on about Chris Froome when the TdF comes along, or Andy Murray - they're proper quality.

...but they tend to go on about every English team like they're world-beaters...it's just delusional.

Surely all the premier league supporters will be fawning over their 'local' club's stars playing for England?

I fawned over Jonny Walters and Glenn Whelan. And Xherdan Shaqiri.

    Am I doing it right?

PS England left out their only Stoke player, so I ain't supporting them.

England might garner a bit of support, or even sympathy if they could bring themselves to learn a bit of modesty and respect for their opponents rather than assuming that they're just going to sweep aside whoever they are up against. From what I saw of tonight's match the English just sloped off the field without shaking hands with Iceland players or swapping shirts or acknowledging the fans. How fcuking rude and self righteous is that. Beaten fair and square and not magnanimous enough to take it like men. Spain hugged and kissed the Italians after their defeat but England just looked down their noses on a team who are "inferior" on paper but clearly superior on the pitch.

Sure Woy ran down the tunnel before the ref had the whistle in his pocket. Pathetic sportsmanship.

big Wayne did acknowledge the fans but then the booing and abuse started and he quickly stopped

"GETITUPDAFIELDFORFÚCKSAKEEEEEEEE, CLOSEIMDOWN, MULLOCKHIMOUTOFIT" I may have said in the final moments of the match last night. It wasn't unlike watching Ireland. So no, England support obviously doesnt come naturally to me!

I didn't feel any way about England. I cheered for Iceland because they were the underdogs but I feel as nonplussed by England's loss as I would have had they won.

The most amusing bit was seeing the likes of Glenn Hoddle being given odds as the next manager.

As far as the media etc goes, I don't think they're nearly as bad as they used to be.

I do feel a bit sorry for them, I genuinely do but they have to change their attitude. They need to jettison this "we're up there with the big boys" delusion because they're not. They're on a par with the likes of Norway and Bulgaria and Albania, and not with Germany and Spain and Italy. Regurgitating 1966 and 1996 doesn't make you a force to be reckoned with. Look at their dismal World Cup performance and now this.
I'm not happy that they're out but I'm not surprised and I would have been very sad for Iceland if England equalised and scraped through on penalties.

The better team won I was not a bit said to see England leave there team is terrible and so are there fans. Instead of there fans trying to help build up the players confidence and support by singing and cheering them on they boo at there own players when they make a mistake or miss a chance and we all know how bad the English fans have been with there violence and attacks off the field. I don,t think Europe will miss them one bit they wanted out of Europe well they got it twice in one week so good bye England we will not miss you.

Pampered and overpaid. Delusions of grandeur. They got what they deserved. I'm sure Woy isn't too worried, getting 5million a year.
Let some other eejit in now to tell them they're world beaters.

The blabbering about the Ruby team here is embarassing they are totally over rated and continally flop when they get to the world cup.

I hate that aswell and I imagine I'm not the only one.
