Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's sad day when Spain display greater low cunning than Italy!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

I think this is the same ref that ****ed us over against belgium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Looked like a definite foul in real time. On further viewing I think it was the right decision.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭JustTheOne

This referee is an absolute disgrace, who is he? Where do they get these clowns for big matches

Same referee we had against Belgium.

    Enough said.

I can understand the sneaky stamp being missed to a point but the initial foul that wasn't.... Terrible.

Referee blows a foul if Italy win the ball from Spain. But nothing the other way round.Over fussy and spoiling the match, hes the worst Ive seen so far in this tournament. Every little decision is wrong Maybe he is unhappy with the Italians for helping knock Turkey out! Either way hes atrocious

  • Lol no yellow

    Silva with a high foot

    Ref having a mare

Mistake from De Gea, nearly cost them that time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

De Gea is keeping Spain in this.

If Italy had a Delvecchio never mind an Inzaghi they'd be dead & buried.
Eder & Pelle look better than they are here.

    They really are horrible cheats

Danny Murphy being incredibly harsh there.

"Oh get up"....that was some hop he took!!

I changed over to tv3 after that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Pelle's hold up play and lay off's have been outstanding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Keeper got away with it there.

  • Great tackle lol

    Ref ffs

I'm guessing a lot of Irish fans thought we would top our group given the large number of Irish flags on display.

Hes getting his revenge for Italy helping knock Turkey out lol

If spain get back into this, I'll be pretty surprised if the ref doesn't play a hand in it.

I was expecting this to be another case of the usual pragmatic Italy, frustrating Spain and being sneaky on the break (an approach I love incidentally), but this is simply a case of Italy being much the better, more threatening team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,342 ✭✭✭Bobby Baccala

Ref is out of his depth in this tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

At one time this Spain team could manage itself but that time has long gone, they need an innovative manager in the absence of 4 or 5 world class players in their peak that they had 5 years ago

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Going down screaming before immediately getting up to moan at the ref should be a bookable offence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,036 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    Bloody great defending!

Say what you want about the English refs but they are another level to some of the others. You need to be lenient in a game like this or the cheating feigning injury and diving gets out of control. Should be cards for diving being handed out here, look at that Spanish dive in the box just there and Fabregas earlier, disgraceful.

How can you win the ball if everything is a foul, it spoils the rythem of the match

I blame the refs shocking officiating for allowing that type of sneaky ****e to leak into the game

El final de una era. If WC 2014 was a blip, this is an implosion. The underachievers are back!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Italy need to add some zip, only 20 mins left.

Insigne would be a good move on the counter. Conte doesn't rate him tho. Much better than Zaza

    Buffon: "You shall not pass"

  • Registered Users Posts: 661 ✭✭✭derm0j073

It's getting really sloppy now, Italy miss De Rossi in the centre.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,118 ✭✭✭Lackey

Great save Italy need to be careful... Maybe sub on the manager :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Buffon only making 'comfortable' saves because he doesn't play in the PL.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Mec27

Spain have more possession in last 15 than france had against us in their dominant period, why does it not feel like that :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭Ishmael

Buffon earning his dinner in the last 10 mins

It's a real shame that things haven't worked out for Giaccherini at Sunderland. He has looked superb in this tournament and IMO has looked good in flashes when he's had opportunities in Sunderland too. I personally feel he has been mis-managed.

He'll be off to Italy, but I'd love to see Allardyce keep him on. A lot of his critics say he's too small and lightweight for the Premier League, but it's not something I buy to be honest. A good manager will find a way to utilise a player like that.

That's the problem with British and Irish football at times

I want to play for Antonio Conte.

Have to say Spain have been very unimpressive. Italy very comfortable so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 972 ✭✭✭snowblind

    Insigne is a live wire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,508 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Crinklewood

Poor again from De Gea, he should have volleyed that beyond Buffon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 972 ✭✭✭snowblind

You know you're watching Italy when both commentators note that a clearance was 'brilliant'

    And it was

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

If a Asteriod is ever going to come for earth just put the Italian defence in front of it

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Mec27

We were the only team to score against them at USA 94 and we may be the only team to score against them 22 years later.
