The season is almost upon us lads, and I'm starting to really get the buzz back. After spending the summer listening to people in the Bay Area tell me how the refs screwed them in the finals, I kind of tuned out to basketball for the last 2 months since I returned from San Francisco.

I came on to share a fantastic long form piece I just finished reading on ESPN.COM which looks at Draymond Green and how his force of personality which has been a huge part of the Warriors success story, could ultimately be his undoing. A great read, which includes some hilarious nuggets such as Green's scientifcally dubious new age idea of how to lose weight- drag the gym bike into the sauna and ride that bike in the sauna!

Been listening to my usual podcasts (Bill Simmons, The Ringer NBA Show, Si's Open Floor) whilst walking the dogs and a couple of interesting stats over the last few shows have emerged:

Since he entered the league, no player has lost more games than Boogie. They didn't give the stats, but they said it's not even close to the next person on the list. I'm surprised on one level, not on others I guess. I'd still take him in a heartbeat though.

The Rockets have won the 3rd most games in the league in the last 10 years.

Daryl Morey (Rockets GM) goes REALLY hard on Ty Lawson, basically blaming him for a large part of Houston's problems last year. Considering he had Dwight Howard on his team and DIDN'T name him as a problem, that's a very strong statement.

Rose was cleared in the civil suit. Looks like he played it correctly after all. I'm betting the over on the Knicks win line anyway.

Very strange decision given the circumstances - was reading a legal interpretation on it last night, likely going to be an appeal apparently.

The pictures that emerged afterwards with jurors posing for photographs with Rose were a little disturbing.

Jane Doe's lawyer said he'll "explore appeal options". Doesn't guarantee an appeal or even make one likely. Rose seemed fully confident in his story and, in the absence of physical evidence, the jury concluded his accuser as lacking credibly. Fair enough imo.

I know, but re. the comments in bold - you could say the same about most rape cases with delayed reporting in fairness.

If Rose wasn't a famous athlete, I don't think it's an enormous stretch to say we might have seen a different type of courtcase than what we witnessed.

I find the pics with the jurors after the case thing very distasteful though, a bit too OJ-ey for my liking. Surely that kind if thing should not be allowed.

Not sure how much you've read about the case (not a dig by the way, just curious), but it does not read well for Rose either way.

I strongly believe in innocent until proven guilty and - at the risk of straying off topic - I think you can find many corners of the Internet where that basic concept no longer seems to apply when it comes to high profile rape cases. His sexual preferences certainly seem very different to mine, but that's his business really and has no bearing on what I think of him as an athlete.

True, but just because you get off in court doesn't mean you're actually innocent or guilty. OJ for example..........
