Can anyone identify the location of this ruin near Carraroe please

It was photographed by an American colleague last week, he thinks, south west of the area marked as Carraroe North on the attached screen shot from Google Maps.

Best idea is to use http://www.bing.com/maps/, change to the aerial map and have a look about. The detail is good enough to see the outline of old smaller buildings without their roofs. Once you have an area you think it might be use https://www.google.ie/maps then 'pegman'/streetview to check (unless it was way back off the road..). Google aerial maps of Carraroe are useless.

Are you sure its carraroe? I thought it looks like the building near the conamara smoked salmon house.. i think thats up near ballyconnelly far as i can recall.

They were on their own, Its not in Carraroe so will look where you suggest. Thanks

I think it is the old sewweed processing factory in Caladh Thaidhg (go through Carraroe village past pub called Réalt na Maidine, continue on and take second turn on right and go down about 1 km.

Thanks, that solves another puzzle which they had, I think my picture is of a house, possibly of the landed gentry type that was gutted

I`m almost 100% certain it`s the Coastguard station in Rosaveel/ Ros a`Mhíl. It was attacked in July 1922 by the IRA as it was occupied by Free State troops. It was burned out afterwards. The lad who led the IRA attack, Christy Macken, later went on to become the Irish film censor.
