Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    England vs Iceland

    8:00pm Monday 27th June
    Allianz Riviera

    Teams:

England: Hart; Walker, Smalling, Cahill, Rose; Dier, Alli, Rooney; Sterling, Sturridge, Kane.

Iceland: Halldórsson; Sævarsson, Árnason, R. Sigurdsson, Skúlason; Gudmundsson, Gylfi, Gunnarsson, Bjarnason; Sigthórsson, Bödvarsson.

Sterling is getting another chance? Very surprised at that.

The prize of a quarter-final with France awaits, so who wins?

I'll go for a 3-1 England win. Sadly I think the Iceland dream ends tonight but I hope I'm wrong. Go Iceland!

I'd love to Iceland get something out of this purely on the basis of what they represent.

That England line up doesnt inspire confidence and neither does Hodgson. Hes doing his best Mike Bassett impression so far. Hope they dont mess this up.

Iceland will win. Their style suits England. England and Rooney will pass the ball around aimlessly for the majority of the game and Iceland will stand off them with comfort. Iceland will score from a set piece.

Common Iceland, hope to god they put Farage's XI out

I'd be afraid of that, and that England are looking past them. Iceland certainly look better than Slovakia and Russia.

    Best England lineup minus Sterling.

4-5-1 into a 4-3-3 requires a decent left wing. Only problem is they left all the good ones at home

I disagree, they're hard working and plucky, but extremely limited. They're like Wales without Bale.

Six black or mixed race players in England's starting 11. Hardly a Farage XI? The national team are representing the entire nation, not just those who voted remain or leave.

Anyway, England will break the ice-landic's hearts tonight. 2-1 England.

Amazed Roy has picked Sterling again and left Vardy out.

I really don't think he knows what he's doing and I would not be surprised if Iceland take them to extra time.

Why indeed. I wonder why. Why oh why.

Also, I didn't say Farage doesn't like Black or Mixed race people. You did.
And what is this nonsense doing in a Football match thread.
    1. It's not nonsense.
    2. It was brought up in the thread by another poster.
    3. It's international football so there is an argument for it being on topic.

Haven't you learnt they have considered themselves serious contenders for 50 years.

They have no hope against the bigger teams.

It is nonsense. Farage and the Brexit have nothing to do with football.

Nothing sadder than Irish people pontificating about British politics they know nothing about. You are clueless about Farage aswell, and it doesnt belong here. Used to box with a Ghanian guy whos family all voted for Brexit aswell. Doesnt suit your agenda though does it

The Icelandic anthem is quite lovely.... very hymn like..

Though it could be an ode to whale slaughter for all I know.

Fair enough. Your opinion though. Another poster mentioned Farage and I don't see you taking issue with their post? I wasn't going to just let it sit their unchallenged. And as I said, there is an argument for it being relevant to football given this is an international fixture. But as it's the match thread, we should probably stick to discussing the actual match.

If I had an agenda, I would hope that anecdotal evidence would not affect it. Unlike yourself obviously.
