Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    England getting the soft frees

I'm surprised anyone is surprised by this. England are not a top international side. 66 aside they never have been. This is par for the course for them.

Some of the Icelandic defenders are shattered.

Shouldn't play too much of a part when England can't even break down their midfield.

Rooney looks like he's running through custard.

Well, there are mental lapses as much as lethargic movement.

    Rooney, England's Pirlo. :pac:

So silly how they change the team to make way for Rooney. They should either play him in his normal position or drop him. Manager doesnt have the b*lls to drop him.

Possibly Rooney's worst game for England.

Never seen him hit so many stray passes

=(:-) Me? I know who I am. I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude (-:)=

Pressure is building a bit now. Gonna be hard to hold on as bad as England are.

Rooney is just laughably awful in midfield. Not great up front anymore either.

A player living off the past. Been bang average for years now.

The look on Hodgson is something else. He looks clueless. Its almost as if he has one eye on tomorrow's headlines.

    McGregor booked

    Alli is always worth hitting.

    Danger here all the same.

Edit: Good lord, that's shocking. Wouldn't see that in the park.

Did an Iceland player just get booked? Kane, ffs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,758 ✭✭✭RedemptionZ

Yet again the importance of a good youth system and proper coaching is highlighted. Absolutely no reason why England can't be as good as Germany. Instead they're simply an Ireland with much better athletes. Technically poor. Even the young lads. You might be able to import foreigners to paper over the cracks in the EPL teams but there's no denying it in international tournaments.

They're far more likely to sort it out than us though.

    Can't be worse than Dier.

They were Dier in the first half, now even more dire in the second half :D

    I'll get my coat

Iceland's passing in England's half is poor.

That is to be expected but I don't see any major chances from them yet. Iceland look comfortable and very organised.

Kane has been one of the biggest flops at this tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭PeterTheEighth

Oh dear god. Have these lads ever played football before? That tall chap certainly doesnt look like he's kicked a ball before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

If Kane does score his face will literally droop with joy.

Iceland are definitely edging us out for best fans of the tournament. Class act they are, that's one hell of a chant too!
    From http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/news/newsid=2383506.html
There have been around 10,000 Icelanders at each of the team's last two UEFA EURO 2016 games – not a huge number but massive for a nation of just 330,000. Those 10,000 fans represent around 3% of the population

    and

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/international/iceland-fans-leave-viewers-terrified-with-perfectly-synchronized-chanting-during-euro-2016-draw-with-a7082961.html
Approximately 30,000 Iceland fans have travelled to Euro 2016, meaning a tenth of the population of Iceland are in attendance in France

That's great for a defender under the cosh, a minute's rest for a free kick and it sent gloriously wide

Iceland can't string two passes together now. They're out on their feet. I just can't see them holding on.
