Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are they all SONS in Iceland?

In Iceland they don't use surnames like we do.

If they have a son, he is given an approved Icelandic first name and then his surname is the fathers first name followed by sson.
For girls it is the fathers first name followed by sdottir.
The s being the plural for the fathers first name.

The worrying thing for England here is that they've played worse since that second goal.

    Yes:

Non football fact. All Icelanders are called "Son of their Father"

So If Gylfi Siggurdson has a son and calls him Tom. He would be called Tom Gylfisson.

    Roy, son of Hodge

I don't dislike England but this is funny!

The English attack is useless, all playing as individuals, no link up play between them at all.

i did say trying for a reason!
Rooney is definitely the next Scholes on this performance

I don't see how anyone can use this guy is the next paul scholes in a derogitory way, Scholes was one of the best english midfielders ever

Am I the only one not shocked by this?

England are poor, and Iceland almost made it to the last world cup and were very strong in qualifying and knocked The Netherlands out. Saw some of their games and they were very strong.

    Love that chant.

I would rather them then those things in the South Africa World Cup

    Africans?

Are they doing that chant to deliberately frighten the sh1te out of the French security.

Iceland aren't exactly breaking their bollox like we were yesterday when we were chasing around after France.

even worse, Kane/ali are just passing to eachother, one attack was breaking there a few mins ago and kane took the ball of his own player who was running up the wing with only one man around to pass it into alli who was in the middle of 3 people

Gotta love that chant, expecting a viking horde to strike.

England are worse than I thought to be fair. Rooney is finished at this level an absolute shadow of the player he was 5 years ago.

    Annoying *****.

Worse than "Stand up for the boys in green" or the Will Grigg song, ad nauseum.

Chant of the tournament. Love to know who came up with it.

Which half time punditry will be best - the shock of ITV or the hilarity of RTE?

They go to every game, home and away. Real fans to be fair to them.

Yea I love listening to Souness, he's the best pundit about IMO. Never afraid to get stuck into teams for bad performances but without the hysteria and nonsense from the likes of Dunphy.

I always follow a simple rule.........I never want to hear Ian Wright's opinion on anything.

Hoddle would manage these lads a thousand times better than Hodgson.

Even something as simple as 'just let Iceland play out of defence from the goal kick instead of pressing' which he just said there, is the sort of nuance Roy would never see.

    Close from Rooney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Any shot I see of Hodgson on the sideline, he looks absolutely bewildered and clueless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,920 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

England have no game plan, aimless performance thus far. Iceland aren't exactly having to do much. They could easily poach a third. Barkley and Milner?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

The sad thing about this not being on the BBC is I can't get to see Gary Lineker and Rio Ferdinand wiping the egg off their faces.

I always wonder about Rooney. He seems to get very little enjoyment out of playing for England. He never ever looks happy or at ease when playing for England. I think the pressure of these tournaments just gets to him, and completely overwhelms him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,735 ✭✭✭Vincent Vega

    Conflicted.
Kinda want to watch ITV for the salt, but really don't think i could take Clive Tyldesley's "REEWWWWNEY" should anything positive happen for them.

These Iceland lads aren't being given yellows for blatantly bookable offences either.

All the eggs in one basket for Hodsgon - will they get scrambled?

    Like I said.

Get Alli off - too "freestyle" at international level. More discipline is required Also Sterling off for Lallana and Milner (no really!) and change the formation to a 4-4-2 shape with Sturridge and Kane up top and central
