    How hard are credit unions to take a loan out of? like do you need to be working or what?

    Each one is an individual, so it really depends because the lending criteria can be different in one than the other. Generally, you would need some form of regular income before they lend - they have to be sure as they can they'll get repaid after all.

    Credit unions will give small loans to people on social welfare but you really need to show a history of saving with them.

    Local credit unions sometimes have particular local arrangements such as loans for Ipads for children at the local secondary school as part of their community role.
