Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Roadmap for a future of island of Ireland

After the Brexit vote, I feel it opens up new possibilities for the future of Ireland. As no politicians here are presenting a vision for our future, here is my 2 cents worth. I think the System of government should change, as it should have after independence, to one more suitable to the Irish people, and to one that has historical significance that recognises the cultural/geographical nature of Ireland. If the Republic was divided into 3 states/ provinces with provincial local autonomous governments( Leinster/Munster/Connaught), that have real devolved powers, under a national government for national issues, I think it would open up a range of benefits. (ROI counties in Ulster could either/also have devolved powers or be under administrative control of other provinces i.e. Donegal in Connaught). Each province would have a directly elected Mayor/Chief/First Minister, with a capital city and local elected government. Each region could forge their own unique cultural identity and develop their economies.Competition between regions would generate improvements and benefits. The way would be open for an independent Ulster to join, at which point the ROI and NI would cease to exist and a new country, Ireland, would come into being with constitutional guarantees protecting rights etc. What do you think?
