Hi, apologies if this is similar to other thread but I didn't want to hijack or go off topic.

I'm looking for advice on a good shop bought BBQ sauce.

I've tried quite a few but they have all been rather disappointing. I typically make my own soy sauce/honey/sweet chilli BBQ marinade for when I'm cooking chicken but I'd love to know what brands other folks use when they buy BBQ sauce in the shop.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Lately I've been using Aldi's Fiery Wing Sauce. I just found it a few weeks ago and I'm well into my second bottle.

I ordered Sweet Baby Ray's original sauce from Amazon and it's really pretty nice. I haven't seen anywhere around these parts carrying it though but, knowing my luck with Amazon products, I'll spot it in Dunnes this evening! :)

Here you go. If you do not have liquid smoke then leave out as it is near impossible to source here and this will make about 60 portions.

2 Tablespoons oil (or bacon drippings)
    1 Medium onion -- slivered
    4 Cloves garlic -- chopped
    28 Fluid Ounces crushed tomatoes
    1 1/2 Cups ketchup
    1 Cup fresh orange juice
    6 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    6 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
    1/2 Cup water
    1/4 Cup honey
1/2 Cup brown sugar -- packed
3 Tablespoons crystallised ginger -- finely chopped
    2 Tablespoons dark molasses
    1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 Teaspoon tobasco
    2 Tablespoons chili powder
    1 Tablespoon coriander -- ground
    1 Tablespoon dry mustard
    1 Teaspoon salt
    2 Tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring

    Saute onion until golden brown.
    Add garlic for one minute.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes, stirring frequently.

    Always serve warm

Here's one by Donal Skehan I use regularly. It is delish.

    60 g demerara sugar
    4 tblsp dark soy sauce
    4 tblsp tomato ketchup
    4 tblsp honey
4 garlic cloves (peeled and finely chopped)
    1 tblsp dried english mustard
    2 tsp tabasco sauce

Whisk everything together & bring to the boil overy a medium to high heat & then simmer for 5 mins. Job done.

As an extra touch I like to add some finely chopped caramelised onions & a splash of red wine or cider vinegar.

Frank's Red Hot Sauce is amazing, I always have a bottle of it in my cupboard.... but it's not exactly a BBQ sauce! :)

So I finally gave this a go today!

I found a receipe online so in addition to Franks and melted butter I added a tiny bit of garlic & ginger paste and salt/pepper. Marinated some chicken thighs and slow cooked for over 3 hours. It was top notch, I loved it! I reckon it would be great on some wings.

Like someone else said, it's not a BBQ sauce but thanks for the recommendation anyway! I will definitely use it again :)
