Amazon.de already has a built in English translation feature, in beta. It's in the menu bar.

A poster mentioned earlier that you can no longer get USB power banks shipped by Amazon. Damn, that is annoying.

    Here is why.
The new international airline regulation for international battery shipments has been released by IATA (effect 1 April 2016): lithium ion batteries packed by themselves (not contained in or packed with equipment) must be shipped at a state of charge (SoC) not exceeding 30% of their rated design capacity.

I've just had a look at the SanDisk SSD's page, unlike the Crucial it's not bundled with file transfer software. :/

Try the other drive in case they offer software, try Clonezilla, I'm lazy so I usually use a bootable linux cd and ddrescue , but there are any number of cloning apps

I suppose so, but I'm torn between starting a PC build or replacing my nearly-4-years-old Samsung NP300 laptop. :o

Anyone manage to get the Huawei Watch at 199? I did but somehow Amazon only applied a 41 discount and I'm now trying to dispute it with them. Their customer advisers say the watch was never offered at 199.
If anyone got one would be mind PM me with a screen capture or similar. Only looking for the price breakdown and item description, all personal details can be obscured. Thanks

    Try camelcamelcamel either.
Their CS said to check camel camel that the price was never that low. And camel does not show the 199 for some reason. I really need proof to help my case.

I believe cc price history does not capture certain discounts, e.g. lightning deals.
There was a thread on this offer on hukdeals, can't link as I'm a new boardsie, perhaps that will refresh their memory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 439 ✭✭zep

Oh I tried to explain that but they point blank refuse to take any alternate proof. So I'm trying to get a copy of their invoice proving the offer. Been a long time Amazon customer and never previously had issues with CS. Sure the guy today on the phone actually implied I was lying about the price 🀔

Didn't they send you an email when you placed the order, or did you order at the higher price without noticing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 439 ✭✭zep

Didn't notice the price on the final screen, my bad for not paying attention. As soon as the confirmation email came through with the details I was onto them them explaining the issue. But still no joy. Just hope someone might have an invoice I can view!

Maybe the price is right but they just added shipping or you didn't pick free one with your purchase?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 439 ✭✭zep

    Hi,
No price is not right. They only applied 41 discount not the 89 that it should have been.

All I've done is look at menus. I get invalid_geo_ip error code. Customer service in the US informed me that it is an entirely separate entity from Amazon UK so gave me a link to Amazon UK (I'd never have found them without it), waiting on a reply from them. Signed up on Monday and haven't seen a single thing.

    :confused::confused: Really?
It's on the 'Contact Us' section. Gives a number of options including Live Chat.

You need a dns unblocking service or vpn to make their servers think you are in the UK or US. There are lots of free trials if you google online.
If you don't set one of those up it won't work for you at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,350 ✭✭✭Cortina_MK_IV

I've used them in the past. Point is you shouldn't have to. If Amazon offer a service it should be clear about where or not that service works.

    Edit:
Upon checking, I see that the payment card you've set for One-click is not a UK payment card.

Please note that, to watch an Amazon Prime Video title, a UK billing address and a credit card issued by a UK bank must be applied to your account. This is the reason, you are receiving "Invalid_geo_ip" error.

Life is too short for fannying about with this crap. Shove it!

Ha! Delighted with the fire stick, paid the extra to get voice remote , but not needed cos you can cast anything ie the aldi s10346 tablet to the fire stick and hey presto ! I got kodi on the telly ! And Google speak etc...so I'm guessing itll work the same with apple stuff too.

You can install the Fire Tv Remote apk to your android device, use voice commands through that & use your phone/tablet screen as a touchpad too.

I've received two emails for the 2 Amazon prime accounts I opened using my Revolut card: "Payment Declined for Amazon Prime"

Anyone else had this problem? Not really a problem as such as the prime will be cancelled soon but I had planned to get one month's worth of orders in.

I have had the same saying I have 10 days to correct the card for payment to go through, prime has been suspended until then, doesn't bother me means I got in on the sales but don't have to pay for prime, it's strange though because I bought items with the same card and no issue

Maybe they're aware revolut cards are preloaded and payment for a subscription service wouldn't be guaranteed.

Possibly. I was wondering as the actual orders I made were against the card and have not been cancelled.

    Yet...

I got the same error message.
Changed the payment method to a different card and then back to the Revolut and it worked just fine.

I'd say they got some technical difficulties with the huge amount of Prime subscriptions that they probably had to process on the day.

In anticipation of the arrival of the Amazon Fire Stick... to install Kodi on it, is it recommended to first install the default software and updates etc when you get it, or just fire ahead with the tutorial at https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-kodi-on-a-firestick/?

And I take it installing Kodi is the first step in opening up the system for all other apps like emulators etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,188 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

So just got the fire stick
Is there anyway to install some kind of ip blocker to access the prime movies etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,188 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

you can use any free/paid dns proxies available.
setup is same as below for all
    http://support.smartdnsproxy.com/customer/portal/articles/1600122-amazon-fire-tv-dns-setup-for-smart-dns-proxy

Tried this but either I'm doing it wrong or it doesn't work

First step is to get the firestarter Launcher once you get that it has an option to download Kodi for you. Btw for those who don't mind the very rare bug try the Alpha build of Kodi 17.0 it's surprisingly stable and much better looking and also easier to navigate, just select "Kodi update policy" in the settings and choose Nightly builds.
