Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was waiting for Ronaldo to try a shot from the drop-ball

If Ronaldo was on corners he'd still shoot

Embarrassing. That fella should be banned for life from any future football game

You know the way the TV camera's don't show it, so as not to encourage the behaviour?

Yeah, Ronaldo has already done the opposite of that already at this tournament (albeit at the end of a match) so IMO, only has himself to blame by already showing he is happy with random pricks running onto the pitch.

Are Poland playing for a penalty shootout here? They don't look like they want to attack

    I'd go Italy Belgium final.

Don't know if anyone else has pointed this out, but... On the two previous occasions that Ireland has been in the finals, the two finalists have come from our group (USSR/Holland in '88, Italy/Spain in 2012) So, Italy/Belgium it is.

The debate about what order the first 5 peno takers take the peno is such a pointless one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Ronaldo to miss??

He might be the fifth taker. Perhaps won't come to him.

    I'll say 4-2 to Poland.

Penalties - where the coin toss actually matters.

Come on Portugal, Ronaldo don't do a Messi.

Very frustrating that both teams were killing the clock by making substitutions early in extra time. Penalties is such a terrible way to end a quarter final. Great to watch for the excitement, but very unfair on the player who becomes the villain and no doubt will have sleepless nights for the next year.

    Ronaldo first

I know they'll be in the SF but honestly can't see either of these teams winning the competition miles off the Italians or Germans

61% chance of winning if you kick first based on a large sample of high level shootouts.

Lewandowski got away with it against Switzerland and chooses to let the opposition go first again. Interesting.

    Great penalty.

Well done to Ronaldo. He's not the most lovable guy at times with his antics, but he's under some pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,769 ✭✭✭dmc17

    Cool as ice

That's why I always hopes more than one player on the losing side misses. It's terribly harsh on just one player, to have to carry that burden for the rest of his career and life, and not just the rest of the year.

    Good penalty by Sanches.
