Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great goal but Zlatan has been as poor as Rooney.

Rooney has some work ahead to keep his place in the team.

I haven't had a favourite player since Andy Cole but i honestly love Rashford at the moment. He is arguably better than Martial now so imagine how much Rashford would sell for.

I tell ye something lads, with some of the posts in the match thread I'd rather have Moyes back than have Guardiola in charge and have to every day read the pompous gack that's been spouted.

    Bailly has been solid.

Good win! :-) Really impressed with Bailly at the back.

Community Shield and Pogba confirmed all in one day!!!!

Great game bar one or two moments. But that will come with inexperiance.
The potential is clear to see.

Looks very promising, decision making has to improve but the same could be said about Smalling at times.

Its good to beat them. It was a consistant performance in the sense that there was no 30 minute panic attack period which was our thing over the last 2 years.

Nice confidence booster for Ibra getting the winner.

    Just what he needed :)

Think he took a few heavy knocks on his ankle, so taken off as a precaution.

Very impressed with Bailly so far. Will be nice to see the team when they've had a chance to gel but there's definitely some promising signs in the play.

Thing that strikes me most about bailly is he is a leader at the back and so composed yet he has only played 50 odd first team games.

    Pogba announced, trophy delivered.

Today was a good day, other then the feckin hurling.

Good win and some a great performance from Bailly.

Still the Rooney question needs to be address because once again he offers nothing. Ibra didn't have a great game, but he came up with a goal, Rooney doesn't even offer something special in games anymore.

    Jose saying to Woody.

    "Thank god we got Pogba"

    lol

Loved that header from Ibra. Thought he did ok again today. Has a lovely touch still and a real presence about him. Certainly better than Rooney for me today.

Fellaini had a really good game despite the huge error he made for the Leicester goal.

Shaw played well for an hour and then looked to runout of steam a bit, which is understandable.

    Bailly really impressive.

Martial totally off the pace again. Doesn't look match fit. Hopefully it will return soon.

    Rooney meh.

    Carrick was poor.

Lingard I have loads of time for. Such a positive player. His first instinct is to run with the ball. He forces the gem forward at pace and causes lots of problems and scored a cracking goal.

Rashford again looked among Utds better players when he came on and that's when playing form the left. Hard not to be really excited about him.

Mata did well when he was on too.

Zlatan was feeding off scraps up front and had to resort to coming deep to get the ball, it's no surprise he was quiet. Rooney was supposed to be the link between midfield and attack and he was terrible today. He wasn't the only one to have a poor game(Martial) but he was played in his favoured no. 10 position and he really had a terrible game. He must have lost possession 7 or 8 times due to poor first touch or a misplaced pass.

It's still very early days of course but unless Rooney gets his sh1t in gear fast we are going to be shoehorning him into the team again at the expense of more suitable players.

    Woodward looked chuffed!

Surprised Rooney didn't pass the Community Shield to a Leicester player ;)

Interesting to hear what Jose has to say about Pogba in his interview.

Apart from, you know, the assist for the first goal.

It was a great run by Lingard but just because it goes against your opinions on Rooney doesn't mean you can say he didn't get the assist, which he did.

He won possession of the ball off a Leicester player and passed it to Lingard in the process drawing Andy King out of position and opening up space.

You can argue all day if you want about it but at the end of the day it still goes down as a Rooney assist.

Mourinho said in a short MUTV interview his lineup today was to appreciate the players who won the FA Cup and why some where starting. Definitly not what I expect to see against Bournemouth.

Rooney was pretty poor today, and the minute the tempo went up Carrick...ugh Pogba can't come in quick enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Is Pogba a vertical or a horizontal player?

I have concerns he is horizontal

Hopefully we see alot more of this through the season.

Don't see Rooney finishing the season in the first choice 11. Still think Mkhitaryan will take his place. Don't think Rooney has subtlety in passing to play there.

Mkhitaryan will create more for Ibra from 10.

    Time will tell I guess.

Getting the midfield shape corrected is the issue. Also, Jose needs to show some form of knowing what his best team is. Today's game I'd hope will reveal that.

Today's game revealed that Rooney touch is piss poor
Still no idea what the starting 11 will be
Baily, Shaw and Fellaini had good games and look like they understand the roles they have been assigned
Zlatan will continue to produce when it matters most
Tony V pissed me off until the very end with a good assist
Lingaard still frustrating but his potential is starting to show through.
Martial was poor today, but looked like it was fitness related as he didn't run with the ball all that much.
Why didn't MK start? Does he play on the left? What happens Martial? Does he play centre? Not likely with Rooney retaining captaincy. He's my signing of the summer and yet it's hard tell where he fits it at the moment.
Herrera...Mata....Carrick....Pogba.....Darmian...holy **** so many unanswered questions.
Dare I say the team is a bit bloated?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Mata was subbed because he was the smallest player on the pitch......

Mourihno said he was time wasting and had to bring off the smallest player

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Manutd_4life

Mata taken off because he is too short to handle the long balls for the last few minutes.

Not sure how I feel about that. Kind of embarrassing and upsetting for Mata.
