Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes, will show them several times most likely.

Defo. They'll repeat them around 100 times before the season starts!

It will be like trying to avoid home alone and back to the future at Christmas time.

so Varela was actually decent in midfield? missed the game. Perhaps Mourinho can actually spot potential and justify playing people in other positions

Powell probably should have had a wee Valium before they brought him on.

Watched in on YouTube in the end.

Pereira getting special praise from Jose in the post match interview.

Mkhitaryan looked class in the first half.

That's a bit harsh I would of said rusty.

To be honest wouldn't take anything really from today other then Micky looks a really sharp, dynamic 10. Good to see Shaw back also.

Wigan were hapless, it wasn't much faster then a training match and the team still very much looks like a Van Gaal team.

If PSV bought Memphis back now they'd probably only pay about 4 million

Hilarious, I want to believe but he's just been incredibly average at best

Well this is his season. There is nothing to gain by flogging him for small money may aswell give the chap a chance.

he will only get his chance if he works hard in training and takes his chance when he gets it.

One thing I could never understand was the lads losing their sh*t over LvG not giving him more time and letting him go out on loan. It's looked clear to me for a long time that he isn't United material.

I'll take your point but that's not the reason people were pissed off, but you knew that already ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,755 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Memphis is like a group of cogwheels and one cog is not fully functioning yet...he looked good imo, but he will need to start scoring for his confidence and if he gains confidence I think he could be great again like he was for PSV.

yep but you dont just "get a chance". you have to earn it. if he did some of the things he did last season under mourinho, he wont be lasting long

Bit annoying to have the matches during our working day.

Didn't see the match but was there a noticeable difference in the play compared to LVGs time?

Tell me what did Memphis do last year that would make him not last long under mourinho?

If you mean on the pitch well yeah but that goes under the phrase of him having a chance.

We do not know what happened behind the scenes at United but Memphis was not the only poor player last year maybe it's a case he actually acted admirable that he didn't talk negative of lvg or his coaches we don't know.

which game do you want me to say the stuff he did bad in, stoke away, chelsea away off the top of my head. awful.

i dont mind a player making a mistake, but not trying is unforgivable

Well that's on the pitch stuff which if he makes it that far he will of had a chance it's his own fault.

There are many players that if they play like they did at times last year they won't make it either.

From the game today I could see ander Herrera playing with more freedom and bailly making some positive passes forward that we missed in defence last year.

Memphis did alot of good today to he just made one bad decision to shoot with the wrong foot but it was his first game.

Depay represents the unspeakable era. Return to market plz.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

Can't really use that match for any predictions or that, it was more like a training match than anything to get players back to fitness.

The only thing I ever really look for in preseason friendlies was achieved, no injuries. So I'm happy.

Also Phil's hair is one way to stand out for a new manager.

So he's going to be Van Gaal's Felaini? As in Fel gets extra heat from fans cause he's seen as a "Moyes signing"....
