Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where are you on the political spectrum?

I'm getting very confused with the political strata these days..I always considered myself 'liberal', pro socialism, anti elitest, anti big business. Since Brexit, I feel my political views have shift and I'm going through a political identity crisis. Currently, I'm for a more equal society, conservative on gender roles, pro 'drug' legalisation (cannabis, psychedics), less government, and more people power (swiss model).

Politics is polarizing again. Soon strong leaders will emerge on both sides and we will have a good old war. It's pretty cyclical.

Where am I on the political spectrum?
Well, I'm definitely not one of them!

I'm neither left nor right wing. I think ideologies are for lazy people.

It depends who's spectrum you use, if we consider left and right to be the Dems and the GOP in the US, then all us Europeans are far left! If you use the Irish barometer where FG are center right and FF center left then you'd have to put me down as center right......

I'm about three ticks due south of the dot on Iniquitus's chart.

Mine is simple. I'm happy to pay my way and pay my share to have a society that gives everyone the maximum possible equality, opportunity, safety, and prosperity, and seeks ways to increase that maximum.

    Economic Left/Right: -4.0
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.15 , about two little squares to the right of Iniquitus.

When plotted against UK parties in the 2015 election, I'm almost on top of the Greens! I'm closest to the SDLP of the NI parties. I honestly am surprised how far left I am.

Yes, well, I don't agree with that. I once did, but I no longer think theory = reality. And I no longer live in the US, either.

For the most part i would lean hard right , in terms of social welfare , immigration , law etc. I would support tighter border controls , Food stamps to replace welfare payments , pro business and pro proper sentencing for criminal offences up to and including the death penalty for certain cases.

However I am also an atheist so support fully the separation of church and state , pro abortion particularly in the case of disability and fatal fetal abnormalities , I support the legalization , taxation and control of all drugs , with a caveat that all drug users are bottom of the list in terms of receiving any medical care , i also support the same policy on prostitution legalize , regulate and tax. I also would be opposed to TTIP as i am quite heath conscious and would not support US additives in our Food chain.

Overall I would have voted for Brexit in the UK and would probably vote UKIP / Conservative as i have little time for the EU or socialist economic policy , If i was voting in the US election i would probably back Trump , Here your kinda stuck with Fine Gael.

    Overall bit of a mix

    I
