    Good afternoon folks.

I have a quick question in relation charging VAT on digital goods.

I am currently in the process of setting up a company and the first product that we will be selling will be an E-book. This will be sold via our website and no other way. Well for now anyway.

Because we are selling via a website and there is potential for people around the world to buy our product.

    How do we charge VAT.

I have been reading some information in relation to MOSS etc on www.revenue.ie and that explains about the EU but what about every where else.

I am not sure if I am over complicating this or maybe it is complicated to begin with.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    David

All I can say is YEUCH!

Find one of the companies that will sell on your behalf and remit payment to you after all the mess VAT has been accounted for.

I was afraid I might get an answer like this. Oh well.

When you say companies that will sell on my behalf do you mean Amazon etc.

Racking the grey matter for the last few minutes, I remembered one of the service providers:

    http://gumroad.com

*No connection other than as a consumer

Yes* if it's not Broken they why try to fix it,

*if it's a very specialised niche book then you could try to go alone .but remember 1% of a lot is better than 100% of something very small
