Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge insecure

An article in Ars reveals a security weakness in certain Qualcomm mobile phone processors which could lead to security risks for data stored on the devices. I naively assumed that Samsung would be using its own processors - it is a Korean company that has a wide range of activities from electronics to skyscraper building to chain store design to financial products.

A quick Google reveals that Samsung is using American processors made by Qualcomm.

Perhaps it is time that electronics products had a declaration of source of key components - like a CE declaration? It would make it easier for the customer to keep track of potential weaknesses in the products they are about to buy.
