Phoenix park - closed

    I regularly drive through the park at the weekends to get to town.

    However I rarely know it's going to be closed (i.e. chesterfield avenue).

    Today for example, it's closed, no information, nothing on the phoenix park website.

    Is there another website I can check?

    Because if it's closed, it's always quicker for me to take an alternative route (via chapelizod or blackhorse avenue).

    "Between 17th May and 29th September the section of Chesterfield Avenue between Mountjoy Roundabout to the Phoenix Monument will be closed on weekends to vehicular traffic."

    I'm pretty sure it was mostly closed during the weekend last year too.

    It's been closed every weekend during the summer since 2012 for the 350th anniversary of the park.

    There's usually signs up as you come in Castleknock Gate.

    They've been doing this during the summer for years. If its your regular route I'm amazed you've never noticed it before.

    I only moved to the area last November, which might explain why I've never noticed to road closures.

    By regular, I mean once a month/six weeks.

    Consider me informed!

    Regular could be the first Tuesday of every quarter, it's "regular" but not frequent.
