Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Iceland are playing a very high line, caused both of the goals so far really.

ITV patronising Iceland, short passes isn't the Iceland way apparently...

France definitely working harder tonight - there was a little passage of play earlier when Iceland had the ball in their own half but they simply couldn't get out as French players were occupying the passing lanes and constantly moving to keep the Icelandic players isolated from one another

    :pac: Come on Iceland

One Goal, get back into the game before half time.

=(:-) Me? I know who I am. I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude (-:)=

Hardly say a Deschamps coached team is well drilled

    Pure talent shining through

    Winning in spite of him

Silver lining is that it shows how truly awful England were.

I hope Iceland can keep it together for the 2nd half against a French side running rampant with 6 days rest and 7 days rest between games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Ah well. It was fun while it lasted. At least France waking up means we might get a good match v Germany

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,673 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

If this was a boxing match the referee would be calling a halt to it. Hope this doesn't end up a total massacre.

Iceland found to be hideously out of their depth.

I guess those who considered the Italy-Germany boring yesterday and prefer kindergarten football are having fun now. Enjoy.

I think the gentlemanly thing for France to do would be to take the foot off the pedal

No comeback obviously for Iceland. I hope France relent in the second half, no need to embarrass them

Yeah why can't we see centre-backs passing the ball from side to side, which is clearly way more fun than lots of goals.

Poor old Iceland - France are several levels above England. Hopefully France tone things down for the next half or it could be a record defeat. They dont deserve that.

Seeing this, Ireland actually did well against France. And we were a tired team with a lot less rest than them!

    The speed of Griezmann!

So you'd obviously feel that Portugal are also hideously out of their depth, regardless of them being in the semis, given they failed to beat Iceland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,090 ✭✭✭trashcan

Makes our performance look a lot better now.

Does I think. Iceland have done remarkably well to get this far, but they are out of their depth now. I'd like to have seen us play France on a rainy night like tonight, rather than a sweltering afternoon. Not saying we'd beat them, but I think we could have run them even closer.

The aim of the game is to win. You do what you need to do to win. If you play against a better team and try to play retarded attacking football then you will get the results England got in the past 50 years.
