Specialised Allez, guessing 2006, bought 2nd hand, alu frame, carbon fork, mixture of ultegra and 105 components, 8 speed cassette. One of the shifters gave up over weekend and was just looking for advice.
This is my training bike and while I could just replace the broken shifter, I know the whole groupset has seen better days and don't want to waste money if it's not worth it. Guessing if I bought a new groupset online, say 11 speed 105, I would have to change wheels as well for the bigger cassette (is this right?).
Would probably have to spend €700 to do that, am I better off just buying a new bike and keeping this for the turbo trainer?

No the shifters are 105s and the gearset is ultegra 8 speed, not sure if they are first days or not as the lad I bought from wasn't first owner, wheels are mavic with dura ace hubs.
