Hi guys anyone know whats the best thing to do with a bucketload of coins. Need to lodge them or get them converted to notes for ease of lodgement. I'd rather exchange for notes to make lodgement quicker.

Is there any machines out there that don't charge commission or minimum commission......

Just go into whatever bank you're a member of and ask for coin bags. AIB at least don't charge you for bringing in coins. Just be polite and bring them in sometime its quiet rather than 3.30 on a friday :)

I've seen some machine in Tesco in Headford Road Centre in Galway over the last while. Don't know if you're anywhere near there. Am open to correction on this, but it seems like something you can just dump all your loose un-counted change into, and you get back Tesco credit or Vouchers or something.....? Would be handy for the oule shopping... Will investigate it further next time I'm in. I think you get full value for value too, unlike with SuperValu where a fee is taken off and leaves ya with less.

Tesco change machine charges 9%, the one in Coonagh does anyway.

Really depends on what value you give your time. Bagging them up and depositing them in a bank will save you 9% for sure plus you'll feel better. I usually use the machines because I am a lazy sod. Just be aware that most banks now require you to be a customer to deposit coins. I was refused before by AIB.

Knowing the banks current "customer service" they'll charge you for coming to a real person to get the bags and charge you again to drop them off to a real person.
On top of the time you've lost sifting around coppers.

I always bag the larger denomination coins and use change machines for the 1,2,5 and 10 cent coins. Best way imo. I would gladly pay 90c to have someone count a tenner of coppers for me, but obviously would not for larger coins.

When paying for your shopping at an automated self-service checkout, drop all of your coins into the coin feeder. Any surplus you have paid will be returned in larger notes and coins. I used to do this when I lived in the uk, not sure it will work in supermarkets here, but worth a go I suppose.

Most of them have swapped to single coin slots now so it's not possible to do this anymore :(

Painful yokes. Especially machines that actually block off the slot for a few seconds to have a think about what you put in.

Tesco in the Crescent still have the Machines that take multiple coins at a time (Coonagh have fitted single-coin slots)
The Wife often blocks a self-service machine for up to 20 minutes while she feeds it €50 in coppers.......:)

Just wondering if there is any update on a current working machine location that I can dump a bag of coins into, don't mind paying a commission
    Thanks

There's one in Londis on the Dock Road. Could try some of the casinos and lie that you intend on playing there.
