Cabbage failure

    Hi folks just wondering if any of you gardeners would know the cause of the failure of my cabbage. I sat it mostly in new ground from plants that I grew from seed but in the last couple of weeks I have noticed it wilting and going pink/yellow, when I pulled a few of them all the roots look horrible, see attached pics.
