Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lads, they all know the rules. Arms up in stupid positions at the wrong time and you'll get that against you.

What a joke. France getting all the decisions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,635 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

    Home town decision that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

Harsh in a sense (don't think he meant to have his hand there), but if your hand is up that high and the ball hits it, it's a penalty.

Didn't quite catch Germany's shout down the other end though, should they have got one too?

Italian ref getting revenge on Germany and home team favourtism.

I'd say it was goal line official that saw it

100% peno for me and always given.

    Justice for '82!!!

Not at all surprised. Every decision has favoured France, the type of decision you never get unless you've got an official determined to become a #celebrityreferee

    How WASNT it a penalty???

His hands were up in the air

Penalty for me, but totally against the run of play.

Annoying celebration, reminds me of his goal against Ireland

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Rezident

Hm, ref being very nice to the home fans again.

His hand was in the air and he completely changed the flight of the ball. Of course that's a penalty!

    It's a basic rule tbf

Thats a blatant penalty. Nearly as bad as Boatengs the other night.

Like Boateng its in an area where the player is unlikely to score from so it makes it even more annoying to give away.

    Its just really dumb defending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

So a referee who can't see Pogba foul Muller in the area can then give that call.
    Very fishy.

Blatant penalty, amazed anyone thinks otherwise
If it was up the other end would it have been awarded?, like s***e it would!
    Its Germany's 11 v France's 12.
    Very fishy.
    ... so fishy it stinks!

How are you supposed to jump for a header against a striker with your hands down????

    Stupid decision. So harsh

    Towards the ball also
    Clearly a penalty
Some amount of raving going on in here, and not the good kind

Shearer talking shyte. He's protecting his face!

Arm in the air hit the ball

No one is saying it's not a penalty. Three German players were man handled for a corner in that first half and the referee done SFA about it.

    No consistency whatsoever.

Definite peno, what was he thinking?

You have to control your arms

It's a penalty alright. Refs too scared to give Germany one though.

Nobody appealed, that's always telling. If it had of passed off without the ref blowing a whistle nobody would have thought anything of it. The foul on Kroos early on however was a penalty.

I count multiple posters who say it wasn't

Never a peno in a million years.

How can you not have your arms up while going for a header. Completely accidental and it hardly caused a game changing deflection.

    Terrible decision

Great spot by the ref, stonewall penalty. Very poor from Basti.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

I honestly have no idea how people are seeing that as harsh.

A penalty every day of the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Definite penalty, but the fouls on Kroos and Schweinsteiger earlier weren't given, which is why the Germans are so pissed off.

    Torally inconsistant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

I can see where people are saying Germany may not have gotten it, but you'll never see a clearer penalty lets be honest....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,361 ✭✭✭Boskowski

Was a pen alright. He was leading with his hand to defend the cross and actually got there with it. If the french defense keeps pulling and grabbing like that they'll give away one, too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Evra heads the ball towards goal and his arm blocks it. It's a pen, how does anyone say otherwise!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,521 ✭✭✭✭mansize

Was the penalty conceded against Italy a peno? If so, what's the difference???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,631 ✭✭✭Dirty Dingus McGee

For all of Germanys great play they haven't created too much.

Well done to the tournament organisers for ruining what should have been a great moment the singing of Le Marseillese before the start of the game by having this horrible piped in music and singing rather than letting us hear the crowd sing it.

    It wasnt the referees call

    It was an assistant

    It was 100% penalty

Isn't he the same ref who gave us a pen vs France? (not too sure)

    Well they are different situations

And it was a free OUTSIDE the box for Ger

Peno. You can jump with your hands raised for leverage ok but if you hands and arms are in such an unnatural position beside your own head when going for the cross and your hand deflects the ball like that it has to be considered a deliberate act.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Nobody appealed, that's always telling. If it had of passed off without the ref blowing a whistle nobody would have thought anything of it. The foul on Kroos early on however was a penalty.

Except Giroud who was closer than any of the French players other than Evra who also appaealed once he got up.

Whats more telling is Schweinstwiger didnt make a fuss over the awarding of it, he knew he was 100% at fault.

No. The contact on Kroos was just outside the box. Free kick at best.

    He fecking punched it away.

Got as good a connection to it despite being under pressure that any keeper would have been proud of.

    Penalty all day long.

2 or 3 french players appealed for it.

I had to look back at it to notice though.

The ref didnt point towards the peno spot at all though.

Just want to state that the referees inconsistencies are the result of the rege. This happened so often and half the time it's given half the time it's not so people don't know where to stand.

From seeing it again to me it's a penalty. It looks like the official called it too.

I also feel that wouldn't have been given in the France box.

However how he can't see pogba kick kroos when he's 5 yards away is beyond me .

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,017 ✭✭✭Chagan

Excellent spot by the linesman. Blatent penalty. You don't jump with your hand above your head?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

Sickening for ze Germans, definite penalty.

Considering how well Germany have played I expect them to pull this one out of the bag.

France lack a player that can dictate tempo.
