Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We may get a Note 8 very quickly, or a rebranded type thing such as an S7N Not Edged + with Pen!

Although the rebranding didn't really work when McDonnell Douglas relaunched their high profile crash incident DC10 as an MD11!

I blame me....I went for the previous Note that they decided not to sell here and ended up with an S6 Edge + and then was all ready to go with a more expensive upgrade to get the Note 7....and this happens.

    Oh well!

One thing for sure is that I'll buy a Samsung again next year as you can be guaranteed it won't go on fire!

I predict the return of the backwards pen issue

Or the removal, again, of the memory card slot.

Am miffed that this Note 5 will prob have to last another year

I wonder what their plan will be. I hope they can still rectify the issues with the Note, as there is nothing else that interests me right now.

If they scrap the Note, then sales of the S8 will also be affected since there will be doubts about the quality.

Ya, I often buy devices outright, but this time I'm using an upgrade with Vodafone. Limits my options quite a bit.

RIP Note7? Where does this leave all the people, myself included, who have bought and returned the Note7!

No actual indication of recall (or return request, or any other means of phrasing it)
Just halting sales and exchanges of all models of the note while it investigates 😄🙄

I just powered back up my S7 replacement and back using it. I want off this ride now it is totally extracting the urine. Can't wait for Vodafones response in December.

This is The Verge, don't forget.

It's amazing they can take the same statement everyone else has, and see without a doubt that the Note is dead. Until Samsung say that it's dead, it's not.....even if eventually that is the case.

Note 3 which I had given to my son and I had to take back so its pretty battered, wifi feature is broken and its all his games on it so I dont think I can wait that long....
I want to buy from Vodafone so that will really limit my options...nothing listed on their website that appeals to me...

That's what drove me away from Vodafone. I wanted the S6 Edge+, they didn't carry it. Same with the HTC 10.

I got the s7 edge typing on it now. First non iPhone smartphone. Ticks all the boxes the note was going to for me except for the pen.

Worried about the battery life. I'm fully up to date and getting seemingly unlimited battery which means these updates that seems to have ruined the battery life may just be down to the batteries of older phones degrading...?

Half one now, I'm up since before 7 and I'm on 81%. The last few nights I've been on 40% after a full day of normal phone use. Could very easily two day this phone at the moment with a bit of disabling features. I was charing my ip5 twice a day towards the end.

Wish I could swipe emails to mark them as read when I get the notification. Is there a way to do that on Android?

Speaker is unbelievably crap. I know it has to be waterproof but it sounds worse than my ip5 did in a life proof case, and that wasn't exactly good.

Samsung haven't said this. They have said they have suspended production while they look into it. I'm not sure what extra info these reports are going off.

"We recently readjusted the production volume for thorough investigation and quality control, but putting consumer safety as top priority, we have reached a final decision to halt production of Galaxy Note 7s," the company said.

What happens with accessories that owners have bought from other vendors? Have they a right to claim refunds due to the demise of the Note 7?

so has anyone on this thread gone against the grain and kept their Note 7 ? - and if you have what are you gonna do just keep an eye on it and use the software update limiting it to cut off charging at 70% ?

But ... where will all these "returned" N7's end up???? - what will they do with them? - destroy them all? (even the handsets that might not even be affected?) .. will we see them being offered later on, on the black market for sale???

    so many questions ....

Broken down, some of the parts might get re-sold or re-used but most of it will just be recycled for materials.

Got a refund from Amazon on my case and awaiting word from Skinomi on my screen protector.

The rep from Amazon was very helpful, very understanding of the issue and even though I got the case nearly two months ago he refunded me immediately.

Just in case any of you are sitting on a 30 quid case and a 10 quid screen protector. Better off in your pockets!

I checked the Vodafone website yesterday and the Galaxy S7 Edge was not listed, but today it is, so if I decide to go for a new phone now, rather than wait for the next big thing, this would be my choice. Any feedback / advice on going for this handset now?

Completely bizarre handling of the situation by Samsung.

As far as I can see, there has been no official statement to say that production has permanently been stopped, except coming from Samsung UK. None of their other twitter accounts or press releases/statements say anything more than stopping of sales and exchanges, or suspension of production while it's investigated.

You'd think they'd have a blanket statement that is pushed out through every method they have available.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,842 ✭✭✭✭Andy From Sligo

the official word they seemed to use is 'halted production' - that to me could be also read as 'suspended'

Statement made to stock exchange. I think that's official enough.

Sales were all through third parties, legally its the seller who arranges the return and refund.
