I have posted already but the link appears to be broken.

My son is about to start a placement at Trinity College and is looking at accommodation in Porterstown. Is it safe and convenient? (I am not from Ireland so don't know any of the areas).

    Yes, very safe.

Convenience; it's about a 30-minute train journey from Coolmine or Clonsilla stations (nearest to Porterstown) into Pearse Station, beside Trinity.

That depends where in porterstown. Could be 5 mins, could be 20 mins.

Its only 30 mins cycle to trinity anyway.

Lovely safe area. However he'd get a room in a houseshare for the same price (or not much more) in town. Would be inclined to go for the D2 or D8 areas, or somewhere on the green luas line, rather than out in D15.
