When did these safety car starts come in. They have wet tyres, let them off. If a driver can't keep it on so be it.

    After Spa 97.

    So DCs fault

    Ms

Looking like its going to be a wet start to the race anyway plenty of water on the ground and rain already. Lets hope they don,t have to start behind the safety car do. Think full wets should be ok as long as it does not rain to much more but don,t mind having more rain during the race to spice things up a bit. Both Coulthard and Webber got drenched doing there pit walk lol.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

There was only one race where I can remember a safety car start was legit. I think it was a Chinese GP a few years back but it looked like drivers couldn't actually see the end of the nose.

:mad: That will be Lewis gone into the distance now.

Thankfully. SC starts really spoil things.

    Edit.

    Just confirmed as SC start.

    :(

Safety car start when it's stopped raining. **** off.

The sun is out and we start behind the safety car. God forbid 22 of the best drivers in the world had to manage the spray

Safety car starts always go on too long. Everyone's ready to jump to inters by the time the SCs pulls off

Drivers aren't allowed to race anymore.

I don't think it's because of the current conditions. It's the rain that feel before that makes it a safety car start.

Blue skies and a fooking safety car. Delay it for 5 min. Gonna make such a difference to the race.... now Lewis is just going to prance off into the distance as he won't be nabbed off the start line.

No reason not to have a regular start. Pathetic carry on. Not even raining

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,998 ✭✭✭Shane732

21 degrees and sunny - lets start under the SC...

It's all about drying out the racing line, the Safety Car can come in as soon as that job is done. If it prevents avoidable shunts at the first corners, I don't mind.

No, it's full wets. Softs won't come until later.
    :p

    This too shall pass.

Well the FIA will probably say that because of the standing water on the track that starting behind the safety car is the safest thing to do.

Hamilton says Safety Car isn't going fast enough, ergo Safety Car is less safe than none in these conditions.

    Get your act together FIA

Could be crazy start if they can't get brakes and tyres up to temperature

Rosberg in Monaco was a bit rubbish with rain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

    This is exciting

As usual they'll probably not even do a full lap on the full wets.

Safety car starts are usually for a torrential rain that goes on for longer than a quick shower.

Let them race lads, it's nearly intermediate conditions now for Christ's sake

Rush to the pits for inters once the SC leaves.

    Time for inters

Feck all spray. This is a joke.

Hamilton saying that as you/I posted.

Are they allowed to follow the safety car into the pits or do they have to go around?

    This too shall pass.

Id flog the wets and so straight to softs, save a pit stop. That track will dry fast now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

What a farce. The world champion is already talking about inters and the SC is still out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,998 ✭✭✭Shane732

    It's a complete joke....

I'd say good chance somebody will crash at start and safety car will be out again (if it ever goes in)

Lewis giving a hint to Charlie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

    Lewis "Can we go Charlie?"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

The fact that they will all need to switch to inters straight away just makes the safety car decision so wrong. Crazy what I'm watching right now.
