Starts in about a month (early August), and there will be two Christmas specials.

The article says that this could be the last year on BBC. It may soon be moving to ITV (for some reason).

Bake Off with ads... hmmm.... they might have to cut it down to 2 challenges like the Irish one. That wouldn't be good.
I dont see the BBC letting it go, only Top Gear is bigger. Then again the way the give up rights to things like the golf without a fight is annoying.

It's not their programme, it's owned by a company called Love Productions who own the rights to it and as such can sell it to whoever they wish. BBC simply have a contract to buy the programme until 2016, after that it's a free market.

They're a big company and they'll go where they feel they can make the most cash long term.

There's no way they can cut the show down to two challenges if it does go to ITV, more likely to go to a 75 or 90 minute format.

It opens up huge possibilities for ad revenue for ITV so I wouldn't be surprised to see it go.

Top Gear is different as it's owned by the BBC.
