    OK, catch-up time :)

Oh I do love a good pie! Gallic Kitchen on Francis St used to do a MEAN steak and veg pie which was absolutely perfect in my eyes, and I have never found any one to match it since  Every pie I try has more pastry than filling, and even for an avowed stodge-lover like me they're just tooooo stodgy - if anyone has any recommendations I'd be glad to receive them!

Back to the show, though. Interesting filling choices!!!

Jane seems to have got herself a good head-start.

Candice looks like an entirely different woman without the black lipstick - I'd hardly recognise her! Looks pretty pleased with herself - I'm getting a bit sick of that smug look.....

G'wan Andrew! That's quite the display!

Mary loved Janes! Have to say they all do nothing for me, don't thing I could eat one. (Any of the pies to be honest), bring back cake!
This one round is all for me!!! Don't know what I'm at watching bake-off, as I haven't the slightest hint of a sweet tooth - but oh my goodness, put a savoury morsel in front of me..... swoon!!

On to round 2.... wtf is a jumble?

ETA - glad to hear none of them know either!

Well, except for Candice obviously..... "I think the jumbles I know are different to this" - so not only has she heard of them, she knows different types. Well of course she does!

Candice has made cakes, not biscuits!

    Mmmmmmm....... marzipan..... mmmmmmmm!

My absolutely favourite bit of Christmas (cake)!

(Which reminds me, I wonder have Lidl got their dark chocolate marzipan logs in yet??? I'm going to stock up with a year's worth this time)

Yes, they have Heidi, I've stocked up already.
    Aww, poor Benjamina. :-(

Holy God - Candice going for understated as usual

What's marchpane when it's at home??? I'd assumed it was just an olde-worlde pronunciation of marzipan, but seems to be something different?

Jaysus, there's some quare sculpturing going on here!

HOW did Selasi escape again??? Talk about the cat with nine lives!

Thought Jane's showstopper was the best by far - understated and classy and elegant compared to the others that were blingy (Candice), clunky (and borderline pornographic, Andrew), meh (Selasi) and a good idea, but just a bit poor (Benjamina)

Candice is properly annoying me now - what's that phrase, "if she was a cat she'd lick herself" (I've a feeling I've got that HORRIBLY wrong ) Anyway, smug isn't in it. Please let her not win?

Aww was sure Benjamina was going to make it to the final, she deserved it she had done so well up to this week. She strikes me as someone whom if she got a bit of training and guidance could be a very good baker, she's still only young.
I was sure Selasi was going home, he really is hanging on in there!
Cannot warm to Candice at all. That peacock showstopper was good in fairness but all I could think when watching it was that she copied Naydiah's from a previous series. Wish she'd stop pouting, I find her very false.

This series has flown by. Have to say it's hard to warm to any of them! Not a great series to bow out on. Might have been a good decision to sell it off.

One of my colleagues pointed out that Jane's hair is just like Jay from The Inbetweeners

I think last year's gang were exceptional and that's why we think this year's are worse, we were genuinely spoilt last year.

Any of the final 5 from last year, or final 4 from 2014 would walk it this year.

Jane all the way. She really did well this week. Thought she would get star baker

I think if she hadn't come last in the technical challenge, she would have got it.

Underwhelmed with Candice's peacock and, well, Candice in general. She seems to be the anointed one this year though.

Awww, Benjamina's smile would light up a room!

That amber yellow colour is gorgeous on her! Lovely person, enjoyed her on Bake Off and on Another Slice tonight.

really disappointing that Benjamina is gone home would have really imagined her going all the way who do we think will be going home next?

(my money is on Selasi, seen him kind of slipping up these past few weeks)

Just watched a rerun on Good Food... With ad breaks we barely get to see any of the bakes. If ITV have any sense they'll push it out to 1.5 hours or there just won't be any point...

People will just record it and watch it without adverts, same as we already do for Corrie, etc!

Not the point I was making. It's going to have ads, it's a question of do they keep it at an hour (which is very disappointing, barely get to see any of the bakes) or push it out to 1.5 hours.

It's the same as the Irish version on TV3. They drop one of the bakes to make it fit into the hour. It really takes away from it. I've given up watching the Irish version. I'll probably tune in once it's moves to Channel 4 just to see, but I don't know if it'll be for me. To me, the format as it is is perfect.

Only "flavoured" ones, with milk chocolate :( Far too rich for my liking!

I'm sure they (or maybe it was Aldi) used to do a plain chocolate one with plain marzipan.... that's what I'm after, if anyone spots one anywhere.....

I'll keep an eye out for you! I was full sure the one I got was dark choc.
You could always try making one á la Bake off!!!

The latest rumour for a Channel 4 presenter is Richard Ayoade - which I wasn't expecting but it could be interesting

I heard the BBC signed Nadiya up so she wouldn't be a judge for Channel 4. I enjoyed her show! Hope she gets more opportunities for similar.

I'd actually really enjoy that, but I think he'd need a co-presenter to balance out his sarcasm & cynicism.

Adam Buxton. They're good mates and work well together (Buxton was on Travel Man recently and Ayoade was on Buxtons podcast)
