Brilliant Air Display at Bray this evening. Airliner after airliner, including an Emirates 777, swooping in from the South East, banking right over Bray Head and leveling off just above the promenade heading approx 340. Wish I'd had a camera with me.

You mean on approach to RWY34 :)

Yeah love it when that runway is in use! Had the kids up at the window to see the 777 coming over the trees and it was followed by Star Airlines or something which looked great! As the next poster said, nothing to do with the show but nice to see all the same! :)

There is a shuttle bus from the allocated parking just off the n11 in the IDA business park. I'd imagine getting there at a reasonable enough time should be grand.

Guys, where is the best spot to watch it from?

Newcastle Aerodrome is where a lot of the aircraft are taking off from. You will see a lot from there.

Depends where you get try to get from. We tried to get it from Killiney last year and they were all full, ended up watching it from Killiney beach.

Are you heading back to the beach this year?

Personally I'd avoid the city centre and would get on the DART north of the city. Where there is much better parking at the stations and less hassle.

Park and ride at the Red Cow luas maybe? Luas in to Connolly (I think it's back open all the way again) and dart from there to Bray

Not a bad idea and yes it open all the way since the start of the month https://www.luas.ie/lcc-rlti-summer2016/. Just be prepared for it to be "rammed" if the weather is anyway decent.

Just asking myself on my local forum(D15) and people giving the same advice/information. I'm not beside a station, so driving to nearest one(Navan Road Parkway),park there for €4 for the day then the two trains to Bray.

Also Bray has a horrible one way system, got stuck in it going to a football match one Bank holiday Monday, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Driving into Bray will ruin the day unless your in at like 8am or that

Anyone know the likelihood of the participants practicing on Thursday or Friday? Would be great to catch a glimpse of them before the weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭Alun

In previous years they've practised on Friday. Saw the Patrouille Suisse practising above my house last year!

Italian display team "Frecce Tricolori" will be running up the Liffey from Dublin bay at 15.30 today on way to Baldonnell. smoke on at 1000ft

Does anyone know yet what time the Red Arrows are on? Or the Freece Tricolore on Sunday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭anonanymore

Ive to be in Greystones for 2pm on Sunday. How long extra should I give for my journey? Also, what would be the best route to take travelling from West Dublin in order to avoid the traffic?

    Anyone?

Any suggestions regarding toilets as to distances to toilets and also Q's around toilets as going to the show with kids and I don't want to end up taking kids long distances or waiting in the large Q's for toilets.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 73 ✭✭TheCockpitGuy

    Anyone?

    Maybe leave Saturday?

    Or dont leave at all!

The M50/M11 last Sunday was bumper to bumper from Dundrum and that was only for the good weather, so the airshow is another matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 dub172

The TRA goes to 10000ft from 1.30pm to 3pm so all the fast stuff will be during that time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭The Bishop Basher

    Anyone?

    A few different options..

M50 could be jammed all the way up to the Bray exits but equally could be moving well enough depending on numerous factors. Best bet is to try it and if it's getting clogged up you could take the back roads over by Kilternan and Enniskerry. That'll bring you out at the Bray exit. You shouldn't have any problems from there to Greystones.

bear in mind the Dublin Horse Show is ending this weekend. There may be some traffic impact because of this event on your journey to the airshow.
(people going to the ferry at Dunleary from Horseshow etc)

No ferries from Dun Laoghaire anymore, they all leave from Dublin port these days

    Hi
I wonder will many planes use Baldonnell to refuel etc?
If so, where is best place to view planes going in and out of there. I will be out that way on Saturday with kids, so thought the experts on this forum might advice.

Also, ye did a trip to the museum in Baldonnell last year, do you plan to run this trip again?

Runway 23/05 is closed for the weekend so all arrivals and departures will be off 29/11.

Looking at the charts it looks like 29 will be the active runway for the weekend.

Sweedes abs Fougas will be operating from Casement also.

    It's just you.

Aerobatics overhead and around the airfield are common before displays. There will generally be someone on the ground watching the aircraft run through the performance in order to authorise the display.
