Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They won against Wales, Croatia and France.

(They mean in the regulation 90 minutes...hence the draw inclusions)

Since when did winning on penalties not count as a win?

Never mind that, there's people here who don't even count a win in extra time as a win!

Still unbeaten in competitive games under Santos - what a coach.

He'll be at Chelsea by Christmas. :D

I think Germany game was final for France.

Then it's an awful stat which proves nothing but Portugal are by far the fittest team.

    Who won tonight?

Winners after extra time, like winning arter penos- not winning in regulation time

Greizzman gets the golden boot and Deschamps gets a boot up the h0le on his way out the door.

Portugal win as many games in 90 mins as both Ireland teams and win it all

In fairness, we reached a World Cup quarter final without winning a game ;)

It's a good job they continued on after regulation time to find a WINNER then isn't it?

People went on about Portugal being in the easy section of the draw, but France had a really easy path to the semis:

    Romania
    Albania
    Switzerland
Ireland (with a week's rest to help them even more)
    Iceland (in their first tournament)

They were outplayed against Germany and Griezmann got them home; with him having a sub-par game tonight, they were doomed.

Congrats Portugal on a deserved win.

Gotta laugh how the VIPS prefer to watch everything through their mobile screens, even as it's happening right there in front of their faces.

Surprised Portugal are bothering to collect the trophy, they are clearly gutted at this not really winning any games nonsense.

Obviously they 'won' every encounter that led to them going through to the next round - but its still a particularly interesting stat for a team to win only 1 match in 90 minutes through the whole tournament and become champions.

I'm delighted for them to be honest.

Ballon d'or number 4 on its way,for CR7. Wins the CL for Real and now his absence has just gone and motivated his teammates too put in a monumental effort too win the Euros for him. What a legend of football and a inspirational leader.

The 24 team format meant Portugal got through with three points - that's just wrong whatever one thinks about the team or any of their players.

Get back to 16 (yeah yeah!)

What the fcuk is this nonsense obsession with them only winning 1 game in 90 minutes? It's a 120 minute game and a win in 91-120 is as completely valid as any other.
It's a 1-0 win for the record books, coefficients, world rankings etc.

Winning in extra time isn't winning. Lol.

    This thread is ****ing bonkers.

Delighted for Portugal have always had a soft spot for them. Small enough nation so it's a great achievement for them. Great to see how much passion Ronaldo has for his country it's what makes international football special.

Not the same thing. Winning on penalties go down in the history books as a draw for both nations. Tonights result will go down as a victory for Portugal.

That Hungary game ended up being the most crucial game of the tournament as Portugal had to come from behind 3 times, otherwise they were out of the Euros.
