Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No player deserves to miss a final despite what they may think.

Seriously am I the only one that could see payet clatter into ronaldo knee/thigh with his right leg. Accidental but it's the reason he's off

    It's a contact sport!

Ah here, is the stretcher not a bit much? He was able to walk off the pitch (for treatment) without a limp, 5 minutes ago.

    Maybe it got worse after?

    What does it matter?

An MCL injury? He took a lot of weight to the the inside of the knee during the challenge.

Half of The Sun's team are working on a pun for that picture with Ronaldo and the moth.

"Moth His Day" in the lead so far.

''Like a moth to a flaming Ronaldo ''

Sanches is starting to find lots of room in the middle of the park.

Knew it was a bad one the second i seen it. Jarred his left knee, ligament damage without a doubt.

Really eager to see Ronaldo lifting that trophy tonight now.

Gutted for him and he knows it was possibly his last chance to win a final for his country

    Devastated for Ronaldo.

On another note, serious amount of moths around the stadium, tonnes on the advertising hoardings.

France decided to win it in nasty fashion.

What!! Payets tackle was fine

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

Such a shame, you want to see the best players in the big games, and this was probably Ronaldo's last chance of international success. It would be great to see Portugal step up now in his absence but I can't see it happening.

Yeah that time he winked and that made Rooney try and stamp on some guy's testicles. Or something..

In fairness he winked after Rooney was sent off, I don't really blame them. We are still bitter after what something any normal player would do with what Henry did.

Of course thats how the injury happened. I dont think anyone said otherwise.
Not a foul, but bad things happens in tackles sometimes

Thought the same. If I was a Portuguese player I'd have ran up to have a few words with Payet,

Deschamps's talk with Payet would have gone a little like this:

Ligament strain is definitely my guess too. Makes sense, it's painful enough to give pause and make you go off but gives you enough confidence to still put weight on the leg.

Once you try and kick a ball though with that leg though you realise you've no strength in it.

It's such a shame he had to go off not nice for him to miss out on a game so big but the stretcher was a bit much alright.

Where is sissoko pulling this performance out of?? Clearly desperate for a transfer

Sissoko is a completely different person when he has something to fight for.

No we are not. Any Irish fan with a bit of sense has gotten well over that. Most of us by the next morning.
Listen to Roy Keane talk about it when he was manager of Ipswich. He was right, sometimes decisions go against you, and then also with you.

Keane v Overmars springs to mind.

Go in hard on the main man. Take a yellow if necessary.

Not good for this final as a spectacle though

If it turns out to be ligament damage then it is probably the right precaution to go with.

Admire his dedication- but could have a negative affect on his career

Danny Murphy- "I'd take that risk"
    - for Fulhum?

Or Liverpool still remember the free kick he scored after Neville decided to play vollyball

There are another 21 players out there you do know. You would think the bloke is after been killed.

Not sure that's it's definitely ligament damage, might just be a shock to the nerve and the leg gone dead.

Sissoko is a very different person with Les Bleus. He gives it everything for "our" jersey. That's why he's here. And he rarely disappoints. That's what Deschamps likes.

Keane was great at "taking one for the team"

Only on boards.ie would you have people complaining about the fashion that an injured player leaves the field, such is the bitterness. Pathetic really.
