    Somewhere in the 100-200euro range.

Something like this looks pretty damn good for the price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018MYTH9U/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c_x_2
    http://wccftech.com/review/viewsonic-vx2457mhd-review-freesync-numbers/

Note: This monitor does not come supplied with a DisplayPort cable, so would need to add that to your order.

Is there a difference in hooking up monitor with display port cable as opposed to HDMI cable.?
With free delivery its working out at 151 euro..

If you have a 1080 card, I take it you are better off getting a 144hz, 1440P g-sync monitor then? Any known offer that would be coming up soon or is black Friday the next big sale day where you might get a monitor at a decent reduction?

Yes there is in this case. This monitor supports FreeSync which allows the monitor refresh rate to match the refresh rate of the GPU within the 40-75Hz range. On this model, only the DisplayPort cable supports this functionality (newer monitors support a new HDMI standard which includes FreeSync). You can use the monitor just fine without the cable though! You just lose that variable refresh rate. So you can get the monitor, use the HDMI cable supplied, and decide later if you want to grab a displayport cable :)

Ill keep an eye on that monitor..

Took a chance on this. Best back for buck I could see. It will be a massive upgrade for me anyway... Did not want to go over the 150 euro mark

If only the g-sync monitors were as good value

Since G-Sync monitors include extra hardware, they can never be cheaper than Freesync.

Dont forget the nvidia g sync license fee

while AMD give freesync away for free

Does anyone have a set of tests, or a site to go through the usual steps for bleed, dead pixels etc?

Got the Asus pg279q myself just recently. At first glance thought I'd gotten a perfect monitor. Stuck my face right up to it and noticed 2 dead pixels. Need at least 4 to be rma'd. Sucks but they are barely noticeable.

Well you can throw anything back up to 14days for no reason other than you aren't happy....

Might be worth trying to run one of those dead pixel programs to see if you can revive them.

Is there a good site/list for what to check? Pretty new at this [My first monitor purchase in about 7 or 8 years :P]

Be careful about the physical pressure fix.
It might work or might mess it up more.

Who did you buy it from? If your not happy with it then you should be able to return it. If its Amazon they should not have any issues with a return.

Does anybody know if the XL2430T comes with a display port in the box or anything like that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,307 ✭✭✭Xenoronin

    Monitor
    UK Power Lead
    Quick Start Guide
    Driver Disk
    S Switch
    Dust Cover

I saw something that may suggest a DVI cable but I would assume that it does not come with a displayport cable.

Yeah got it on ebay off a german store! (€700 delivered!!) Stupidly enough it actually took me a week to notice it. To be honest its actually not too bad! (in fairness it surely couldn't be if it took me that long to notice). Laziness got the better of me and I just couldn't be arsed returning it. Did try everything to fix it, turned out it was a dead sub-pixel. The 2 pixels are red when there's a white background and black with anything else.

Could be worse. The PPI is pretty damn high so if it isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it, i'd say it's grand. I am fairly sure there are guidelines in the warranty guide so do have a look just incase it gets worse over time. Is it up in a corner or something?

  • Registered Users Posts: 103 ✭✭Sneak

There is one right in the middle of the right hand side and the other one is just a bit higher but around the same position on the opposite side. All in all fairly happy they're definitely not a deal breaker. You'd have to wonder why these monitors were plagued with issues especially considering the premium price.

    just a question , how much of a difference would g-sync make on a 1440p,144hz monitor v a regular 1440p, 144hz?
