I wasn't on in a while...put in a few dry ewes into a shed yesterday evening as it was bucketing rain. Went up this morning to find a new born lamb in the middle of them

Only after renewing farm insurance policy in last few days and paid well for it. This kind of thing is what is causing premiums to go up!

Though if l didn't bother with it l would be equally screwed!!

Is the cover like for like with fbd's? Cows broke out on road here a few weeks ago and the first thing I said was thank God for insurance, didnt have to make a claim though(yet)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,173 ✭✭✭✭Muckit

I've actually better cover. I've employers liability now. And all because of scams like this. If you casually asked a lad now to give a hand for a few mins it could end up costing the farm! It's a very sad world we live in.

As said here before you are an employer just by somebody helping you even for a second and without paying them.

Your cows breaking out covered by public liability.

Anyone know the law regarding drawing trailers i.e single axle trailers on a car do i need to do a full test or would my trailer learner permit cover it?

    Better living everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,173 ✭✭✭✭Muckit

You don't need an EB licence if the weight of the trailer +load you want to tow is less than 750kg. It has nothing to do with axles.

With your learner permit you'd have to have a full EB licence holder beside you as far as I'm aware to tow anything over 750kg.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to apply and pass your test asap.

    Nope.
The regular B covers DGVW up to 3500kg. So the designed gross weight of car and trailer combined must be below 3500kg.
There will be a plate on your car/jeep showing its DGVW, subtract that figure from 3500 and that gives the DGVW of the trailer your licence will allow.

So if your vehicle has a DGVW of 2000kg, you can tow a trailer DGVW 1500kg.

It doesn't matter what the actual loaded weight of either is, the law is based on the designed weight.

ESB are here to do work today, have to go the whole way down to the moor area (as we call it) with a digger. The poor fields :(

I don't quite follow you on this statement _Brian. I suppose once you are not carrying more than what the vehicle or trailer/caravan is designed to carry. In which case you need to know the weight of your cargo and it would matter from that point of view.

Putting up a now pole, was just down with them and it's not actually as bad as I thought. They took our stone roadway down for the most part, just the bottom of the hill is a bit tracked, along with the gap.

See a police in us released another video showing shooting of a young lad who turned out to be unarmed. Saw it over on journal.ie

Have to say this lad actually seemed to want to be shot, officers pleaded with him to show his hands and stop walking towards them, but from the video he obviously had something in his hand behind his back and keeps approaching them. Awful stuff.

Have watched quite a few of these videos after they were released and many of the people shot just refuse to follow basic instructions from the police. Tough place to live at the moment.

That's it what are the police supposed to do. Very easy to criticise after the fact as the holy joes weren't there at that moment

You'd think the farm owner would pipe or even fence that drain
Will you tow or lift it out?

Lots of people think they ca use a tri axle Williams with a small load as long as the weight stays within 3500kg, but that's not how it works.

I'd be there when they are finishing up just to be sure they tidy the place up like you would want it . They can be hit and miss !,

TBH they didn't, but even after three non lethal shots he was making moves as if he had something in his hand or reaching for something with his hands.
They pleaded with him to remain still but he kept the act up.

Rang up a few places about doing lessons you would need your own jeep and trailer for that though

I didn't even click on the links, your description was more than suffice.
Many years ago, as a teenager I unwittingly witnessed a farmer using a Burdizzo to cut the teat from a cow suffering with mastitis
