Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I joined Ben Dunne Westpoint gym out in Blanchardstown this week. I've been a member of other gyms around Dublin the past few years.

I had my first visit the other day. I have to say I was pretty disappointed when I got inside. What is with the decor? It's a horrible, dark, yellow and orange colour all over. It's verging on depressing. And the carpet isn't helping. "You don't go to a gym for the decor" you're probably itching to respond with, but my disappointment didn't stop there. I started running on the treadmill and the thing felt and sounded like it was about to die at any moment, and no I'm not heavy.

If you're a member there and have never been to much brighter, nicer gyms, with equipment that feels sturdy and excellent, maybe you haven't noticed what I noticed. But I really enjoyed the environment in my previous gyms. Westpoint felt like some sort of dark, depressing basement.

And it's not because of the cost. My previous gyms have been the exact same monthly fee and have been much closer to the city centre, including the ones with swimming pools. (It's not as if white paint is more expensive than horrible yellow and orange paint.)

Anyone else find the gym to be pretty horrible inside?

You joined before checking it out?

You joined before checking it out?

Not really. I'd been a member of it before, briefly, about eight or nine years ago. When I was joining again recently, I had no bad memories of it, so I figured all would be good; though, the equipment was eight or nine years newer back then, and it was the first gym I'd ever joined so I had nothing to compare it to.

Eight years later, the equipment appears to never have been replaced, and now that I have other better gyms to compare it to, it's awful in comparison.

Thankfully I'm on a 30 day contract. Glad I didn't sign up for a year.
