There should be plenty of apps in the app store where you can set the number of intervals, the time of the interval and the time of rest. If you search for 'hiit' or 'hiit timer' you'll get something.

I bought this thing a few years back. Not as cumbersome as a phone, comes with a clip that attaches to your waistband, or has fittings to accommodate a cord if you wanted to put it around your neck. It's brutally simple, has nothing but interval, stop watch and time modes, but it's easy to use and quite sturdy, so it'll take the inevitable bit of abuse. It's available too from other sites, you don't have to buy it from the manufacturer.

Sorry, I can't post links yet. It's called Gymboss; Google it and you'll find it no problem. About €20.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I found an App called workouts+, It allows you to do everything I had mentioned in my earlier post.
you can Build up your workout and include interval timing for breaks etc. Ive included a screen shot. It also has some workouts included. I think there is a paid version as well

Thanks for the recommendation. I've set it up for run walk interval training and I'm looking forward to trying it out later.
