Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knew if there is any complications with working a reduced week on a 457 visa?

Someone mentioned to me that you need to be in full time employment, would 4 work days a week (under your sponsor) be okay under the requirements?

Are you still being paid the minimum salary as required?

"In September 2009, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection introduced the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT). This threshold (Currently $53,900) sets the minimum guaranteed annual earnings for an employee nominated for a 457 visa.Oct 28, 2014"

    This could be an issue

As far as I know that is based on a 38 hour week so as long as the hourly rate is above 53,900/(38*52) which is around $27.27 per hour then the number of hours worked shouldn't matter.

It says minimum guaranteed annual earnings of 54k (Approximately)

The purpose of this is to make sure that people on 457 visas don't become a burden to the government due to financial hardship

"As at 1 July 2013, the lowest wage acceptable under the scheme, known as the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) is $53,900, in order to best ensure that all subclass 457 visa holders have sufficient income to independently provide for themselves in Australia. "
