    Hi,

Does anyone have experience with Teepee/Tipi Tents?

I'm looking for family Teepee/Tipi which will last 20years.
Possibly fit 4 adults and 2 kids comfortably.
    With possibility of stove.

    How heavy are they?
    How do they dry?
    What is the assembly like?
How do they behave in the wind? Irelands West coast, I'd hope to get more us out if it than just the summer.

Transport by car/roofrack and possibly sea-kayak.

I thought I might pitch it to start out in the front garden and then move to campgrounds and the wild.

I don't have any experience of these particular tents but can I ask why you want a Tippee Tent specifically?

They all seem to be single skin which indicates to me that they are not really suited to our very wet climate.

The one you linked is very expensive so I found a larger similar tent on Amazon for a lot less money.

    Reviews seem good.

Here's another one which has a cotton blend material which may be more durable and comfortable

    Hi Enda,

Yes there are some good alternatives.
I have been in the proper canvas teepee on bad nights with the stove and their very cozy, hence I can picture myself using it on worse evenings.

I'd like to have the stove option.

I have the bigger version of the Mojave from 10T its green and 5m in diameter.
Its been very good when we have had it camping this year and last year.
You could go for a canvas one, advantages are they stay cooler in the sun and are more durable.
Disadvantages are they are heavy and extremely heavy when wet.
Hard to dry once you get home if they are wet.
4m is a little small for a family of 4, the 5m versions have a lot more interior space.
You won't carry a canvas Bell tent safely on a sea kayak. they're too heavy @25kg dry the polyester ones are half the weight for the same size.
If you want a stove then you will need a canvas tent, the polyester ones won't last.

I'm thinking about getting one of these

    https://www.camping-outdoor.eu/en/tents-awnings/campingzelte/group-tents/10t-desert-8-8-person-cotton-pyramid-tent-sewn-in-ground-sheet/a-1143761398/

Is it big enough for 2 adults and 4 small kids?
also its only single skin . Is this a concern?

4m is a bit small for a family of 6, in my experience.
depends a lot on sleeping arrangements plus how much gear you have.
All the bell tents are single skin they seem fine but the only place they all seem to leak is the little hole at the top of the porch.
I solved the leak by making a very small hole in a 1" piece of inner tube rubber and pushing it over the pin that sticks through the hole.

I have that tent, the 10T 5m Green Mojave
Its very good value for the size of it and it weighs a fraction of the canvas ones.
I had a lot of people commenting favourably on it at the last camp we were on, polyester is a much more practical choice for a tent in this country IMHO.
Canvas Bells are cool and stylish but hard to dry once they get wet unless you have a huge farm shed to hang it up in.
They are also much more expensive than the Poly versions.
I took the view that the cost wasn't huge and the practicality of the tent made it a decent option.
I would advise that you get a footprint for under the groundsheet, it makes it much more comfortable and less prone to wear.
Cheap blue tarps do a good job and you could get fancy and cut one to size and stick eyelets in the edges.

i'll have to take another look at them , the mojave is half the price of the canvas ones.
