I'd say that filthy git on Adverts down in Wexford is rubbing his hands with glee.

I'm just checking in Smyth's in Swords, but not looking good at all.
A lady is getting a lecture on the importance of pre-ordering from a staff member.
    Well, that's me done.
Guess I'll wait until the new year, ho hum.

I'd try Symths on Jervis Street but it's too depressing. See if I go through Stephens green.

It could be a typical ploy to drive up demand - for months now all the pre-orders have been sold out on the likes of Amazon so surely there is more stock to arrive before Christmas. Nintendo would want their holes kicked if they dont have the stock to meet demand.

Asked in Argos Arklow , not due to be in stock til Nov 25th

Anyone in the Limerick area looking in store?

Ah sure I've got a hacked Wii U with every NES game, but still want this... that box and that controller :pac:

So yeah, as with others no joy in Argos (Jervis) - Staff had no details at all, just that they'd already gotten their delivery and it wasn't in it.

Smyth's (Jervis again) had preorders only. Staff said they wouldn't have stock until the new year which differs from the website message. One was disgruntled at this prospect of having to make a sign...

GameStop (Henry St) thought they might get more next week, but won't know until early next week.

    So for today, :(

Nintendo spreading the Christmas cheer already and lining scalpers pockets. amiibo won't have a patch on this. I hope to God they are producing more as we speak. They've got to be. The demand is high and they're not going to be making any money off Wii U sales. I'm sure they see this as their golden Christmas ticket.

Edit: Along with Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Not in Argos this morning, delivery scheduled for Nov 24/25

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,255 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Can't preorder if supplies don't meet demand. It's like the damn Hatchimals.

Just got a call off games stop and was told I have till tomorrow to pick up my pre order before they sell it..... . What the hell is the story there

That's standard for Gamestop. They've done that with anything I've preordered.

Stephens green Argos is also a bust.

Surely Smyth's has the same 48 hour policy on preorders. This ain't over baby.

I got my mail last night to say the Nes classic was ready to collect. It does also say they'll only hold it for 2 days from date of email. So might be worth checking Smyths on Sunday morning, see if anyone gets caught out.

I think, at this point, I'd rather spend the €60 on games for my Famicom, via eBay.
I have most of the decent titles on the NES Mini Classic already.
Maybe just get the Castlevania titles I don't have.

I Checked Gamestop in Mahon Point Cork last night,
They were only getting 12 in and they were all pre ordered already, but hope to have more before Xmas,
I some how think stores underestimated the popularity with this,

From what I've read, seems more like Nintendo underestimated popularity, since allocations to stores was so small.

Ah now, that's hardly a fair comment. The scalpers will descent on anything that they think will be popular/in demand, that's hardly Nintendo's (or any maunfacturer's) fault.

Sligeach will be along in a moment using the micro console as a further example of Nintendo abusing it's fans.
    No.
Nintendo have had a world wide release of this hardware, and the demand for the device is massive, for what is ultimately a novelty, they underestimated the demand.
Remember they also have the Famicom Mini, which doubtlessly has the same internals.

Lads heading to the states next week. I can get on online and get a cousin to pick it up. Would it work over here.

    Working around 55 euro

Same thing happened with amiibo for a long while, numerous games; Tokyo Mirage Sessions Fortissimo Edition being the most annoying for me recently, look at Pokemon GO Plus(as soon as people found out Nintendo were in charge of producing that device they said here we go again) you can't buy it anywhere. Well you can but you'll get scalped on Ebay. Nintendo create the situation by not producing enough. And it's because they're so unbelievably tight-fisted, they don't want money sitting on shelves.

Edit: Anyone else finding this site very slow to post or edit?

    Edit 2:
Nintendo Mini Famicom sells out in Japan, Mini NES sells out online in UK
Meanwhile, Amazon prepares "limited" launch day stock for the US while eBay sellers profit.

Keen to one-up friends by importing the Japanese version of the Nintendo Classic Mini NES, the Mini Famicom? Unfortunately, you might have to wait a while to get your smug on. The Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer sold out in less than hour after going on sale in Tokyo, Japan, with Nintendo not yet revealing when more units will go on sale.

Like the Mini NES, which goes on sale November 11 in the US and Europe, the Mini Famicom pairs 30 classic Nintendo games with a pint-sized piece of emulator-based hardware styled after the original '80s console. According to the FT, which spoke to staff at Bic Camera electronics store in central Tokyo, the Mini Famicom was snapped up by "men in their late 30s and 40s," otherwise known as "the tail-end of Generation X."

In more bad news for nostalgia fans, the Mini NES has sold out at most online retailers, and Amazon UK is no longer taking pre-orders for the console. The Mini NES is available on the Internet's favourite scalping website eBay, but at a price of at least £100—a substantial premium over the £50 RRP. Extra controllers have also sold out at most sites.

In the US, Amazon will begin selling the Mini NES at 14:00 PT on launch day, November 11 for $60. However, the retailer notes that it will only have "very limited quantities" of the console, orders will limited to one per customer, and 1-click ordering has been disabled.

"Demand is expected to be very high, and there's no guarantee that it will remain in stock for long," reads an e-mail from Amazon to interested customers. "We will make similar announcements when additional inventory becomes available."

Suffice it say, the Mini NES and Mini Famicom are going to be hot ticket items this Christmas. Order early if you don't want to deal with a sad girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, partner, or child on Christmas day.

Went into Smyths there to chance my arm. The young lad reckons there's no hope this side of Christmas. He says Nintendo want them to send back any stock not collected from preorders which sounds a bit unrealistic.

Same date for me. I preordered within minutes of it listing. Still, I've be waiting 30 years for a NES and a few more days won't make a difference.

All I need now is a Commodore 64 to be in the box with Amazon telling me it'd be more educational.

I'd imagine that means the staff will be buying them and selling them on!

That person on adverts marked the ad as sold, and relisted it at a higher price! AND, someone offered the new asking!

Once January rolls around, I suspect this niche product will end up gathering dust in most homes.
Very short sighted by Nintendo, flooding the market with devices to keep their name relevant this Christmas would've made more sense to stop folks buying PS4 or Xboxes before the Switch launches next spring. Its hard for most to justify a multi-console home and this could've filled a novelty void for a few weeks/months.

Preordered mine with smyths back at the end of July. Collected earlier. They told me the were only able to fulfill 5 preorders. Thats all they werr given.
Have to say it is pretty impressive but the length of the cable on the controller is ridiculously short.

Ive ordered one and have to collect it today, I ordered it on the off chance one of my sons would want it. If someone really really wants one I could sell it to them (cost price)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 Emo7

Well whatever way you want to look at it Nintendo created hysteria with people wanting to buy them but maybe demand exceeded their own expectations and and their probably kicking themselves that they didn't charge more but regardless the hunt continues.

I still believe Argos is the best bet but Nintendo.co.uk is certainly worth a try, they say on the website that they will have more for sale in December so all is not lost yet.

Considering I failed in my quest to get my hands on one I decided to go up the attic and get the SNES back out so not a bad substitute.

I don't think there's a hope of regular retail getting more of these before Christmas.

I've been looking at them on ebay. There's one uk listing for 183 euro!?
99 have sold according to it and 308 people are watching it!?

True forgot about that, price is cheaper also @ €57.87, plus you get a free mario soft toy ;)

    6% cashback on Quidco too.

I said this back when the Mini was announced but perhaps this is essentially a very bit of brand reinforcement by Nintendo.
Previously the Nintendo brand had slid into obscurity amongst games players, outside of the fans, but this has electrified adults to look at Nintendo once again, maybe an important first step before introducing the Switch, and Karen, to rooftop parties everywhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,629 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Had a look at Ebay and it's disgusting. Selling from anywhere between €140 to €160. Even the controllers are selling for about €40.

That link I posted to the controllers on Gamestop was gone very early in the morning. I ordered one and haven't heard that it's cancelled or been refunded. I'm now thinking did someone buy the lot to sting people on Ebay? Buy for €13, sell for €40.

The amount of people visiting this forum in the past day or so has dramatically increased over the norm. All here for the same reason no doubt. Waiting for Nintendo to announce DLC for Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. :D

I have to say, I was a bit tough on Karen at first. I'm not apologising though.

I've been forbidden from buying a Classic Mini as whoever got me in the family Secret Santa is hunting one down. I hope they fully understood the reason behind pre-orders and don't sink to getting shafted by the scalpers. I'd rather not get one than hear they paid over the odds to some shitebag on Adverts.

Same here. I'd wait until January. Which doesn't seem all that bad. A NES classic to brighten up an otherwise crap month!

Decided to forego one of these at this time in favour of a Pokesun 2DS and Pokemoon, real reason is these gone gone gone. Will have a poke about north of the boarder on Sunday I think.
