Hi today i picked up a surround sound system at a decent price, its the http://www.qacoustics.co.uk/q7000i-h...ema-system.htm

But, it came with an extra 2 front or rear sats and a extra center speaker.

so thats 6 front / rear units, 2 center units and one subwoofer.

    questions:

    1. why did original owner buy the extra units?

    2. can I incorporate same into a 7.1 system?

    3. how much for a half decent amp to drive them? (im a complete newby to this)

    Thanks.
Oh and what wires / cables would be needed? only comes with a sub power lead.

    Hi Mech1,

Apologies for the delay getting back to you, it's been a busy day in store. They are very good speakers! Especially with the extra stereo pair. A second centre is really for a system driven by a 9.1 amp and can be used as a centre rear channel but depending on the size of the room this might be overkill. If you are looking for a good 7.1 amp I would recommend the Denon AVRX2300. They sound fantastic and are very well paired with then Q Acoustics. It's predecessor won the best AV Receiver at the What Hi Fi Awards last year and this chap has been upgraded with better signal paths so it sounds even better.

All you would need for cable would be speaker cable for your satellites and a sublink cable (like a long single phono cable) for your sub.

Let me know if that amp takes your fancy. It's currently running at £499 and will drive a 7.1 system.

    Kind Regards

    David
