    Hi ladies

I need help as am fed up withe my skin lately. I have dry/dehydrated skin which also is prone to pimples on forehead, nose & chin plus black heads on nose & chin. (Hormonal breakouts around chin etc)

I would be very good at double cleansing, acid toner plus serums & moisturiser. My routine would be something like this:

    Morning
Cleanse with balm e.g. clinque take day off
    Serum
    Moisturise
    SPF

    Night
1st Cleanse Oil - eg Una Brennan Superfacialist
    2nd Cleanse Balm - eg Clinque/Emma Hardie/Sanctuary Balms
Alpha H Liquid Gold Exfoliating Toner (every 2nd night)
    Hydrating Serum
    Night Cream & eye cream

Some nights might use an overnight oil (clarins) or overnight Hydrating masks (dermalogica & origins)
Tried some Hydrating Spray Toners didn't find a difference.

I have spent a fortune on products & get the odd facial (as a treat maybe every few mths) but still find my skin is very patchy and/or getting breakouts & pimples.
I am 33, have relatively good diet plenty fruit etc.

Any help is extremely appreciated as I'm at my wits end.

Impossible to say without seeing the skin but sounds severely dehydrated. Don't strip so much oil from your skin.

Do you exfoliate your skin? Also drinking lots of water? Not washing your face in the shower? It might be worth while to see a dermatologist and get a full face mapping such as dermalogica or guinot provide.

I have dry skin at times which is sometimes prone to break outs. For a quick fix I use Dr spot from soap and glory, it is by far the best spot remedy I have used. And unlike most spot treatments it is infused with ginger so while it doesn't smell the best, it won't sting on the skin. Another recent treatment I've found is Vitamin E scar treatment cream from Holland and Barret, it reduces the spot size and redness. It's non drying so the area won't become flaky afterwards. Try not to put so many products on your face It upsets the natural barrier.

Do you really need to double cleanse? Clinique Take the Day off and a flannel is enough, unless you're wearing stage makeup on a daily basis, there's no need to double cleanse!

Also, Alpha H Liquid Gold every 2 nights is too much, I think. I use it once a week

I'd say for dry skin, the liquid gold every two night is too much. If you want to do it only go for the spot prone areas. I only use a chemical exfoliant every 2-3 days and I have combination skin, not dry at all apart from the tops of my cheeks (I'd never use it on those more than once a week).

I'd make sure that the facial oil is non-comedogenic as well as the hydrating mask.

Have you ever tried washing your face with porridge oats?(there are a few videos on youtube about it) They are very good for breakouts. Maybe also try gel based moisturisers, the other products might be too rich for your skin.

I have dry skin with rosacea and breakouts.

Since I starting using the dermalogica ultra calming range I haven't looked back. My skin is hugely improving.

I don't think its a case that the more products you use = better skin.

I'd put that money into a consult with a dermatologist.

    Where are you based?
