Rainwater Beer

It would be very 'soft' water but I suppose some lime would sort that out. Why not, especially with water charges for a brewery. Not much use to a home brewer though I expect the filtration would cost way too much to make it worthwhile.

I was going to say the same thing, using rain water for home brewing would probably not be worth the effort of filtering and treating it. But, one thing rain water could be used for is chilling the beer post boil. The volume of water used for chilling is huge compared to the actual amount used to make the wort (at least for me it is).

You could collect the water, have a pump draw water from the bottom of the container, pump it through the chiller and send the output down the drain or back into another container (or possibly back into the top of the container you are drawing from depending on the volume of the container).

Not a bad idea actually. It is a water hungry process!

On a similar vein, I see beer being brewed with leftover/waste bread :)
