Hi JJJJNR, thanks for the post

In 40" TVs and above, to be honest its quite rare to see one now that doesn't have smart features on it, but you can have these disabled if you didn't want to use them

Are you inetersted in 4k? and do you need freesat?

Without 4k, you should look at Samsung UE40K5500 - http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202053-ue40k5500.aspx at £429/€539 - a lovely 40" TV with a good refresh rate, and quad core processor

In a 4k set, you could look at the Samsung UE40KU6400 - http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202131-ue40ku6400.aspx at £599/€799 - a stunning higher range samsung with high refresh rate, quad core processor, and freesat
    or for the best 40" the Panasonic TX40DX700 - http://www.richersounds.ie/p-201897-viera-tx40dx700b.aspx- at £699/€869

Have a look at these options. and let me know your thoughts, or if anything else grabs your eye

    Cheers
    Brian

Thanks Brian, bit of panasonic fanboy myself and reluctant to move to Samsung, would the newer panny TVs have a long warranty like our current set (long expired) and how would they compare to the old panasonic plasma for longevity, and performance, most of the stuff I watch is HD and we dont have a requirement for 4k unless it (i.e. the content) can be played via a usb hard drive, is that possible.?

    hI jjjjnr,

Yea I tend to prefer the Panasonics myself. This one comes with a 6 year guarantee covered by ourselves, which is exactly as per themanufacturers warranty
On the 4k, yes you can play 4k content via USB, we us this in the shop for display purposes
    Cheers
