I don't get all the moaning about the new Lidl it's not like Portmarnock village is some sort of idealistic architectural beauty, one of the new Lidl buildings would be an improvement on most of whats there already, is it just snobbery at a perceived "lower class" supermarket being introduced?

This thread is about the houses being built near the train station. The thread about Lidl is here:

    Hey there

Very interested in this development but not familar with the area so appreciate any and all insights!

As it is quite close to the beach, is station rd susceptible to flooding at all?

Is the dart station mobbed in the morning time?

Portmarnock itself- is it a relatively safe area? Is there much of a community with classes/activitys to join? Or do people gravitate to Malahide more so

Apologies for all the questions...just anxious to get as much honest feedback as possible

Portmarnock is lovely, it's safe, you will never be more than a walk from the beach. The only time disorder ever seems to arise is when the schools finish and the weather is nice when you can get substantial disorder on the beach, maybe once or twice a year. Not much on the social side so most people gravitate to Malahide for Pubs and Restaurants.

Need to ring them up, no price available on line, will give them a ring on Monday, I would guess the smallest start at 465k or so if I had to guess.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't understand why they can't just post the prices on their site, slightly annoying!

The will have officially launch on 11th Feb. Price for first phase three bed (108cm2) is 435K

435 for a 3 bed is quite pricey!

    Thanks for the reply

    435K???? For a 3 bed in Portmarnock??? :):):):):):)

That's utterly insane. You should be paying no more than 325K.

    Good luck with that.

    Good luck with that.

While I agree 325 is too low, 435 for a 3 bed is truly nuts.

Would have thought around 380 mark myself.

I'm sure they will be snapped up regardless but not for me at those prices.

    Absolutely correct, crazy price.

I would be surprised if they are much less than 450k for the 3 beds. The 435k mark sounds about right.

3 beds in robswall malahide are going 550k.

Given location in portmarnock - train, schools, beach etc I'm gonna guess of 475k for second phase 3 beds.

I'm dreading these being given finished, The over crowding on rush hour DARTS is going to become dangerous.

However the 550k three bed in Robswall is detached and much bigger and better floorplan than this one.

435 is correct - I'm on a mailing list for it - It's a nuts price but I guess you're paying for the location next to the DART. Lovely area by the way. Hoping to buy in the locality this year if I can afford it.

Maybe they could improve the service, just a thought....

I think there's a plan for more regular DARTS? - then again during rush hour plenty of trains/DARTS stop there already. Any improvements welcome!

I'm on the line during rush hour and it's very overcrowded as it is.

Still can't believe they are starting at 435k.

Gutted re the 435k - really wanted to buy one - I'm renting on Station Rd and would love to stay on it. Hopefully the bank is being nice when we go and have the conversation!

Wondering anybody has successfully contacted the builders? We have signed the contract for one of the three beds, but the agency refused to give us builders' contacts. Any questions have to go through the agency, the process is very slow...

I thought the houses were going for sale in 11th February? Have you bought one already. Still think they are extremely overpriced for a very small 3 bed semi. And the brochure, information available is not very detailed.

The 1st phase has released last Nov, there is no showhouse at that point.... I agree the price is very high, but have a look on daft or myhome, we cannot find a three bed house under 450K in malahide and portmanorck area..... Houses are really go up now:(.

Portmarnock and Malahide property has been consistently over priced compared to the house size / value / location in other parts of the North Coastal Belt such as Sutton or Howth or indeed comparable areas of the Southside.

Just ask any Estate Agent from outside the area and they will support this fact.

If you can at all try and buy in Malahide.

Socially, Portmarnock is dead. Everyone heads over to Malahide to socialise. That, in addition to the rioting every year on the beach, is more than enough reason to avoid the area if you can.
