Socially, Portmarnock is dead. Everyone heads over to Malahide to socialise. That, in addition to the rioting every year on the beach, is more than enough reason to avoid the area if you can.

I went to secondary school in Portmarnock, and all my mates I made there were from the area. Socially it's poor. The only decent place is PSLC for the bar and pitches. We either head malahide or town, the odd time we go to the sans, but it's usually dead there,

I think there's a plan for more regular DARTS? - then again during rush hour plenty of trains/DARTS stop there already. Any improvements welcome!

afaik more DARTs are not possible until the DART Underground project materialises because of the congestion around Connolly.

Queues outside it this evening. About 10 cars parked with people in them. I'm assuming they are being sold now? Will there be show houses?

It's crazy folks. Some of them cars have actually been there since Thursday morning. Initially I thought people were using it for free parking for the dart. The boom is back!!!:)

Is that the current etiquette? Park your car (illegally, it looks like) as a placeholder in a queue? I'd say there'd be some crack arguing with the ones who came in on the first Darts.

23 cars there at 9am this morning. 15 minutes left until they go on sale I think.

Do you know how much they left for each type?
It is crazy cold last weekend, surprised so many people went...

I'm not sure where the previous poster got his information from but I just spoke to one of the estate agents and all the houses sold over the weekend apart from a few of 'The Poppy' type, which are 4 Bed semi d's and are either €630K or €635K. The 4 bed detached at €665K sold apparently.

The next phase in the development is planned to launch in September.

Can't find the link but apparently were sleeping over night in their cars for this development.

Its a lot of money for an estate house in a field,

This is both disturbing and sad at the same time. This bunch of people will be driving the prices up 15%...

I'm not sure. The set price appeals to me. If these houses had been sold via auction, they would have sold for significantly more such was the demand. I'm sure the buyers queuing felt a night's pain was worth it - to purchase the house at a set price that they have shown a bank they can afford as opposed to getting into a prolonged bidding contest and ultimately being outbid.

As far as I know, unlike what fueled the boom, mortgage applicants are not getting mortgages for more than 3.5 times their salaries and there are no 100% or interest only mortgages?

    What's your alternative?

I posted the article a few posts above from the independent.

    Edit: you find found it.

I wouldn't be queuing up to pay them prices.

    Stupid people.

About 8 people queuing in their cars as of 6.30pm this evening. When I saw them I assumed they were launching in the morning (they launch Sept 9th) - there is something seriously wrong with a society where people have to physically queue for one week in order to pay extortionate prices for average houses built on top of each other purely because there is so little property available.

It appears they are. There is a good few more cars now than yesterday evening. There is going to a serious crowd there at this rate.
