Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Taxing Vintage motorbike

    Hey Guys,

Topics like this have been covered time and time again but I can seem to find the answer for me.

Taxing a vintage motorbike when it has never been taxed in Ireland before, how does one go about that?

Bike is currently in Ireland, most of the posts about this is all to do with import duty's and VAT. Assuming the VAT has been paid when it arrived. Would the tax office have records of that? Say, if it wasn't paid, I'll be bought up on it?

Haven't bought the bike in question but mighty tempted if there isn't a bunch of hidden fee's!

    Many thanks in advance!

    Darcy

Has the bike got an irish reg plate..No VAT on old bikes..if not its safe to assume no vrt was paid...the seller should know and tell you this....if vrt was paid and he just didnt tax it then you just buy the bike and tax it as normal..no back tax will be owed by you....

    Cheers Max,

Good to know. Haven't dealt with these Irish systems before.
