Odell Brewing - Mountain Standard IPA

Pretty much perfection tbh. An absolute fruity hop bomb. Suits the weather.

And getting it in a 4 for 10 is just the cherry on top

Excuse me. Where exactly is this happening?

Although that said, it’s only €2.75 in Molloys

    The brewery isn't commissioned yet.

They're a few months away yet. They have all the vessels, but none of the pipework.

Pareto principle... 20% of the job will take 80% of the effort.

Hop city was good fun but never craved a stout so much. Other Half brought out some big 3L bottle of their pastry stout and it was the best beer I tasted. Other highlights were Hudson Valley stuff.

Ended up getting a wristband to the brewers afterparty that started at 12am so a 6pm-4am session so it all went downhill from there.

Any shop selling it should be at the 4 for €10 mark, it's priced the same to the retailer as the rest of the Odell can range, Sierra Nevada cans, Founders cans etc. The Larkin's Helles and Resilience mentioned above should be likewise. Not much of the Resilience left mind, it is a very good beer!

Turns out they were 4 for €10, just no label on the shelf.

Just opened a 2016 bottle of KBS. Had to pop in here to brag about it. :pac: It's outrageously smooth for a 12.4% stout.

Has it aged well? I still have a couple of bottles of it myself that I should crack open sometime soon.

Very well. I bought it last weekend and only copped the date on the back tonight. Might have another one stashed somewhere though. Following it up with a Narwhal now. Good thing I'm not working til Monday.

Where did you pick up such an old bottle? My locals can't hold onto them for love nor money.

O’Briens were selling off a load of them last year due to being “out of date”
Obviously a bought them all! :) Gotta love the notion of strong beers having a BB date.

I remember receiving an email from Founders via their distributor here in Ireland explaining why they have to do it (EU regulations etc) and going on to point out that the beer is made for aging.. It's handy to pull out the odd time an older bottle is picked up by a customer unused to the practice

Uiltje Bellini Brut DIPA, distinctively peach taste from it. At 9.4% it would be easy get carried away drinking it as it tastes nothing like that.

Had a Green montain Hazy vermont session IPA last nite, not all that impressed
Followed by a California IPA from Sierra Nevada - too fruity/citrusy for my liking

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,388 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Can of Moral Panic IPA from Ska Brewing - very nice, not too hoppy
Followed that up with a can of Great Divide Colette, farmhouse ale - not sure what farmhouse ale is? a little sweet but tasty all the same
